A great walk from Weymouth to Portland. Some beautiful scenery. Highly recommend this. You see so much by walking. A great way to get the kids away from their screens.

The old railway line from Portland to Weymouth is now a cycle track and footpath. A nice flat walk with good coastal view. Walkers beware of cyclists.

We often cycle to Portland along this track, lovely walk as well, lovely views of Portland and there are hidden gems along the way, such as Sandsfoot castle, worth the walk or bike ride.

Youll find the hidden bits interesting. Great views once you get a wee bit out Such a pity it was closed, but probably gives much more benefit than when it actually ran.

Although generally described as an old railway walk and it does follow the old track from Weymouth to Portland there isn't really any semblance, remnants or suggestions this was ever a railway track. Tarmacked throughout it is an excellent mud free walk but even in...More

The Rodwell Way railway walk connects Weymouth with Portland. We like doing railway walks and this is an interesting one with railway relics and information points along the way. Much of it is very quiet and sheltered, overhung with trees and vegetation until it emerges...More

Much of the paved walkway is isolated from the surrounding residential areas and where it does open out there are some excellent views out over the Weymouth bay and the limestone cliffs to the north. Being a former railway line, the grades are very gentle...More

We've walked the old track a few times and the coastal walk off-shoot. It's only a 3 Km walk which is easily accessible for walkers/cyclists/buggies and wheelchairs. It's a pleasant mostly flat walk from the Portland/Weymouth Bridge Road into Weymouth. The coastal walk is sign...More

The Rodwell Trail as it is locally known , runs from near the town centre to the causeway over to Portland. It is very "multi use" i.e walkers, dog walkers and cyclists...each have to remember to think about "the others". For example if you are...More

When Great Britain's once extensive railway network began to contract, in earnest, during the late 1950's and the early 1960's, it left large areas of the countryside without a passenger train service, but with lengths of disused trackbed that were ripe for conversion into foot...More

So sorry, only just seen the question as not on here very often. Just in case still relevant, cross the bridge across Weymouth Harbour and it's on the left off the start of Abbotsbury Road, next to some 'figure' cut-outs.
