It takes about 2 hours to walk from Dufton to the top of High Cup Nick. The view from the top is outstanding and well worth the effort. The day can also be rounded off with refreshments in the Stag Inn at Dufton.

Brilliant walk, slightly difficult to find the start from the Car Park in Dufton. Maybe there should be a sign? Luckily we started early while it was still cool as the day got progressively hotter. Amazing views from the top.

A long not too steep climb with amazing views. Well worth the climb. You need to wear sturdy shoes. Parking a Dufton village

Hell of a walk from Middleton-in-Teesdale (the most challenging, if hugely enjoyable bit of the Penning Way) before arriving at the best view of this geography-lesson made flesh. Possibly the most awesome bit of scenery in England.

It’s an easy walk from Dufton with a spectacular view at the top. It’s higher than it looks in the photographs. The decent into the floor of the valley at the top is steep and rocky, if your not confident then I would suggest return...More

Took advantage of the bizarre weather to explore here for the first time. Wow what a view. A very straightforward route, very few people about , and a humbling view at the end.

Absolutely amazing walk to High Cup Nick. I'm not a natural hill walker so was a little apprehensive about our expedition but the higher we climbed the more amazing the panoramic views became making me smile from ear to ear. Sadly the cafe in Dufton...More

Parked in Dufton car park and then took the 3.1/2 mile Penine Way walk up to High Cup Nick. It's a gradual climb but the views get more and more stunning until you reach the canyon itself. We went back the same way (7 miles...More

Part of the Pennine Way crosses the top of the glacial valley the tiny trickle of High Cup Gill (well it was a dry year) drops over the edge. It is hard to see how this contributed to the massive glacier creating the landscape before...More

Choose a nice sunny day (especially in the middle of winter) and walk straight up the middle you won't be disappointed. The closer you get the more imposing it looks but don't turn round until you've done the last bit of a scramble.
