Took a four-person boat with oars and small motor for two hours up the River Hull...we've walked the River countless times, but this gave us (two adult and two small-uns) a very different perspective and a relaxing Saturday afternoon.

Impressed by the safety and professionalism of the hire team....everything was explained to us clearly...safety gear all laid on and depite having never boated before, quickly made it up to the nature reserve at Pulfin and got stuck-in to wildlife spotting. Glimpsed a kingfisher (never seen one before!), grey heron and some strage geese we've still not been able to identify.

Would love to return soon with a bottle of wine and a picnic...maybe hald a day.

Tips: The Crown and Anchor Pub in Tickton is a good starting (or finishing?) point, with good Marstons ale and decent home cooked grub.

Take binoculars and a decent camera....lots of opportunity for snaps!

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon on the river yesterday. (22nd October) I didn`t know there was such an exquisite stretch of the river Hull! We went as far as the lock. Considering the time of year, it was extremely pleasant especially when the sun was out. The boat was excellent and we spotted the following –

Little Grebe, Cormorant, Heron, Little Egret, Kingfisher, Swans, Buzzard, Reed Warbler and several others along with fish jumping out of the water!

Many thanks from a very satisfied customer. We will be back next summer!

Me and my friends originally booked our trip for a day out on a 4 man boat. We arrived and found out on the facebook page that it was closed for the day. Even though we were a bit confused, we were quite happy to come back another day, but the man phoned early the next day and gave us a 6 man boat for free and he was very apologetic. We couldn't have been any happier and had a great day out. Couldn't thank the owners enough and will defiantly be back with a picnic.

Myself, my boyfriend and our parents hired a boat today (May day bank holiday) after rain all weekend, we couldn't have picked a better day as we had glorious sunshine!!! There was five adults and we all were in agreement that it was a brill way to spend our bank holiday, something different.. We all had a giggle on the boat and even got to see a seal much to our amazement!!! The boat owner told us the seal is a regular visitor who comes and goes so am pleased we had the pleasure of seeing him. We didn't get all the way up to the nature reserve as we had booked a table for lunch and so had to return the boat earlier than we had liked but £60 for half a day, well worth it and will definitely be returning with a picnic basket and more time to make it to the reserve!! Thank you so much to Beverley boat hire!! We shall see you again soon :)

Today 30th August, we took a boat down the river Hull, the best £45 I have ever spent, was so relaxing we took a picnic and the dog. The owner was very helpful and even though we were a little late returning that was not a problem. I will defiantly be returning i can not think of anything nicer on a sunny afternoon and the kids loved it. We saw all sorts of wild life including a few Herons. Truly magical thank you very much The Jenkinsons.

Brilliant day on a lovely stretch of peaceful river. Lots of nature and fun things for the kids to spot along the way. We did a half day tour with about 1hr15 ride up to a dead end, lovely place to tie up the boat and have a picnic. We did a little fishing there it was great fun. We spent around 1 hour there then set off back. It was absolutely scorching on the way back, i advise to take plenty of water/drinks as its a long way back for little ones. We paid more attention to the water on the way back as it was low tide and the weeds were quite bad, we had to pay attention to the boat being directly in the middle of the river. It paid off as we saw a big snake swimming across the river which was brilliant, my daughter thought it was great and talked about it all day.

After we returned the boat we popped into the put across the bridge which has a huge field for kids to play and plenty of benches. It also has ice-cream parlour which is open sundays. Pretty expensive there though but great way to end the day.
