About
Burton Constable, the home of the Constable family for over 700 years, is one of the most fascinating country houses to survive with its historic collections. Sep 2021 • Couples
Visited here as I we like history booked on line for our visit
Arrived at 10am and booked our time slot for the hall they do 5 minute slots
Had a coffee which was nice and staff were pleasant
A nice walk around the grounds there are about 4 to do
Then on to the hall there are 30 rooms in all to look at with guides available if you have any questions please ask as they will try to answer them
Also there is plenty of signs and displays around the grounds too
A good day out

Much better than I imagined
Sep 2021 • Couples
I thought it would not be as good as a National Trust visit but I was wrong as it in some ways it exceeded it.

The cafe served lovely food and drinks. There were pleasant well kept grounds but no formal gardens. The huge stable complex was one of the best preserved. It had stale lads bedchamber, clock mechanism, complete stalls etc.

We were allowed to see around 30 rooms, all with lots of helpful information boards. Most rooms were furnished. A miixture of periods and styles. Very interesting.

A fascinating visit.

Helpful staff
Sep 2021 • Couples
Extremely impressive hall and grounds. Husband has mobility issues so walks with a rollator and staff could not have been more helpful regarding assisting him with the stairlift and then providing a wheel chair so we could tour the first floor rooms. House beautifully presented with just enough facts in each room - together with ‘snippets' for younger visitors . Staff very knowledgable. Had lunch - tasty - in the Stables cafe but physical limitations put paid to exploring the grounds on this occasion. Will return! Look like some lovely walks.

Burton constable Hall

We had a fabulous time at Burton Constable recently, we felt we were given very special treatment from the staff. The staff were all very friendly and had lots of knowledge about the Hall and also the objects in the rooms they were in.
The tea rooms served a very delicious array of food which was priced the same as all these historical houses are, however the food and drinks were very nice.
we would definetely go back again for another visit if we were in the area.
we were on a weekend away to surprise a friend and combined this too.
i must say it was very worth the price.

Excellent afternoon tea!
Aug 2021 • Family
We had a super day out here. We didn’t visit the house this time - just the grounds and the Stables cafe. All the staff are really helpful. We had booked afternoon tea and it was one of the best, if not ‘the best’, we’ve had. Having part of the cafe that allows dogs is really useful. We had also booked the drawing workshop with the artist Calvin Innes- really enjoyed it.

A gem, well worth visiting. An outstanding Elizabethan house, filled with the possessions of the Constable family who owned it for over 700 years. Best of all are the enthusiastic volunteers in each room, who can bring the history of the house to life.

Memorable day out
Aug 2021
We visited Burton Constable on 11 August 2021 for the first time. We had a lovely lunch in the cafe which we chose from a good selection of meals and snacks. We thought that the gift shop stocked some lovely gifts at reasonable prices which we bought as souvenirs. The house itself was armed with excellent volunteer guides and everyone we came into contact with was friendly and full of knowledge of the house. There was an awful lot to see and in the lovely Capability Brown landscape too. If I lived closer I would definitely volunteer at this charming house. Thank you so much to all the hard working staff and volunteers for a memorable day out. We have recommended you to our family in Doncaster to visit soon.

Great day out
Aug 2021
An amazing place to visit and a fantastic day out`` Being a beautiful day weather wise five of us enjoyed a leisurely walk around the grounds and around the large lake as we had plenty of time to spare before our tour of the house. There is a nice cafe on site lovely coffee served in proper cups not plastic or paper! Food is reasonably priced and of good quality and prepared on site.

The house is very impressive with lots of unusual exhibits , there was a guide in every room to answer any questions we had and we found them all to be extremely helpful, informative, and friendly.

INTERESTING PLACE TO VISIT
Jun 2021
Recently returned for our second visit during covid, but thankfully on this occasion the hall itself was open. It's a pleasant walk around the grounds and all the staff we met were cheerful, friendly and informative. We did the tour of the hall and what a lovely extensive place it is and steeped in history. Again the staff on duty were friendly and full of information about the history of the hall. Our one complaint was that there is no information regarding the paintings, which are all numbered. We mentioned this and apparently it was due to covid cleanliness. I cannot believe that it is too difficult to have information sheets laminated, handed to each visitor and cleaned when handed back.
