Bude Sea Pool is a part-natural, partially man-made tidal swimming pool on the beach at this popular seaside town in North Cornwall. It was built in the 1930s under the cliffs of Summerleaze Beach to provide safe bathing in sea water, but away from the dangerous Atlantic currents in the bay. Measuring around 91m by 45m, it is topped up at high tide by the Atlantic Ocean. Since 2012 it is managed by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool, a not-for-profit charity that took over the facility when public funding was withdrawn. The spacious Pool provides plenty of room for paddling or serious swimming: inflatables, snorkels, surfboards and even scuba divers are welcome - just be considerate of other users, please. Bude Sea Pool is open throughout the year and is FREE for all to enjoy. Lifeguards are on duty at peak times. Children must be accompanied at Bude Sea Pool at all times.

One of the last remaining seapools in the country which is lovingly kept by voluntary fund raising and locals support. Both Local and county council funding has been withdrawn with the intention of closing the pool to save them money but thanks to the efforts of 'Save our sea pool' it is a fantastic and safe local attraction especially appreciated... The sea pool was our reason for visiting Summerleaze beach, in hindsight, the beach is nice enough to visit for its own merit, however, the sea pool was a lovely talking point and of interest for our older children. Looking a bit looming, deep and dark, the younger ones didn't want to get in, but the older ones enjoyed a... More

A great asset to the beach. Well done for raising funds to keep it open. Anyone visiting should seriously consider making a contribution, as it totally relies on voluntary donations (to the best of my knowledge ).

Fantastic facility on the beach - looked cold but was well used. Obviously filled by the rising tide. Wear a wetsuit though!!

I think this is the only sea pool in the UK that the public can access for free? Its first class and a great location as you can swim when its too rough in the sea. We found some of the regulars very helpful too, our Daughter used it to practice for her open water charity swim. Its ideal to... More

Amazing pool to have a swim. We visited in the second week in July. Place is great for family's and people wanting a nice area to swim that is calm and wave free.

It was nice to have a chance to swim on what was quite a rough day. It is a beautiful beach and once you negotiate the slippery seaweed and overcome the initial cold shock it is very enjoyable. I look forward to my next visit.

Stunning location with sand stretching out to the sea in one direction and colourful newly renovated beach huts in the other. I dropped by for a few lengths after my morning run along the coastal path and it was cold, but felt so good. The locals knew better and had swimming wetsuits on. Early morning it was quiet and peaceful.... More
