Today I had the pleasure of having a makeup makeover in the beauty dept in Austins. I am no spring chicken but even as a woman of a certain age I do not want either my style of clothes or my makeup to be set in the 1950s. Therefore I booked an appointment with the Lancôme beautician (there are also... More

My daughter was after a certain coloured shoe and style, unfortunately Austins couldn't oblige. However a department store with a difference as its made up of several smaller shops along the high street? Familiar brands and similar prices.

Although as I am type 1 diabetic I have zero or diet drinks as they contain no sugar and the only on offer to me here are Diet Coke and water, so could be more of them available!! However aside... The Menswear store has a very good range of top quality brands such as Hilfige, Ben Sherman, Tokyo Laundry, Bench etc. I very often shop there during the sales (especially the Blue Cross Events) and can always find at least a few items worth buying. Nowhere else locally comes close to this range and quality and the staff are great... More

Had a cream tea for one and it was excellent all round. Two scones so delicious and huge. I chose cherry and a fruit and couldn't eat it all. The staff are friendly and efficient and it is a lovely place. Much nicer to go for lunch or afternoon tea than the high street chains. Will definitely be my choice... More

Had lunch here after a long cold day shopping. Was a trip down memory lane, old fashioned cafeteria style Restauarant. Pleasant enough, food was overpriced, but good and hot. Coffee ok.
