A traditional cider bar selling only Cider and Fruit wine. The building itself dates back to circa 1744, and affiliated with the sale of cider since the 1900's, a visit to Ye Olde Cider Bar is a step back in time. An historic landmark of Newton Abbot and popular with locals as well as visitors from the UK and across the world. We stock a fantastic array of approximately 30 ciders, sourced from independent cider producers, as well as some well known favourites from Thatchers and Westons. With a great choice on offer, there is sure to be a cider to suit everyone! If you find your favourite - we also offer cider and wine to 'take-away'! Facilities available: - Games Room for older children - Billiards table - Board games upon request - Beer Garden - Small children's outdoor play area - Traditional music session (monthly) - Bar snacks - Cheese and Ham Rolls - Hot Pies and Pasties - Pork pies - Off sales

If you love proper cider you'll lose yer nut at Ye Olde Cider Bar. No bull**** wall to wall real cider at a decent price, bar staff who really know their stuff and a friendly laid back atmosphere. Try the cheese rolls too, half a french stick, big chunk of cheddar and a few generous slices of fresh crunchy onion...perfect... More

This is Newton Abbot's number one 'must visit ' icon. It is an unique cider bar - there are only two or three in the country. Its oozes atmosphere from an era long gone. Benches, varnish and flagstones. They have an extensive range of genuine ciders in wooden barrels and in all sorts of other containers. There is also a... More

Under new ownership this is still a fabulous historic bar with a great friendly welcome. Only come here if you want to drink cider, wines or soft drinks. You can get a pasty of a roll but no fancy food. If you come to Newton Abbot it would be foolish to miss out on a trip to the Olde Cider... More

Returned to the cider bar after a number of years. Place is still unique and has a traditional cider bar atmosphere. The locals are friendly and so are the staff. My disappointment was really with the cider. Didn't really have as much choice of 'rough' cider as I remember. Might be due to it being mid week. Well worth a... More

Thank you for coming to visit us and for taking the time to leave us a review! I'm very sorry the cider wasn't up to your expectations and thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Up until last November the choice of dry/rough cider was most certainly lacking as there were only a couple varieties. I have been... More

We always like to go in for one drink and the experience of the Cider bar. Old fashioned bar servicing cider and wine, no franchise here. I tried the elderflower wine, which tasted great and was very potent.
