Very intresting little peice of history here... situated in the heart of Christchurch... The hill is fun for kids! look for a peice of cardboard to sit on and fly down the hill!!

Brief visit to Castle and Norman House

Interesting stop off on our visit to Christchurch. Just ruins but of such a great age it does make you pause for thought. Free to visit and not over crowded.

it was a very interesting place, you can see for miles looking out to sea and we also saw a norman house as well, we walked along the top, out at sea where some cruises ships all in a long line.

Nice ruin

We called by here whilst is Christchurch. Very close to the Priory Church. Whilst there is not much of the castle left it does give you a real sense of the history and is well worth checking out. A good place to visit.

Not a lot left of the castle, but still worth taking a look, and seeing the views below. Well worth a visit.

Very simple viewing

It's always interesting when you come across ruins that are just open the the public as you pass by. Very small Norman castle in the centre of Christchurch. Nice but not a lot to see.

Lovely stroll along the river
May 2020 • Couples
Such a lovely, gentle stroll along the path by the river and steam. Starting/finishing at Christchurch castle and Christchurch quay.
We really enjoyed the walk in the sunshine, Mallard ducks a-plenty, fish, lovely views, gardens, history.
This walk easily links to other nice places to walk, such as Stanpit nature reserve and along the river from Christchurch Quay to Tuckton, and for a longer walk, along to Hengistbury head.
Pay parking is nearby.

This is a very early motte and the remains of the castle. it is complimented by the priory and the constable house which when viewed together puts into context the whole site.

Nice place and free

Came across this castle whilst walking around Christchurch town, nice quiet area of the town near the river and priory church. Worth a climb to the top of the mound itself.
