I was living next to it and all the time I passed by it was closed, until one day, this is a fantastic place to take the kids, really enjoyed it!

Museum Is Definitely Closed

I consulted the Christchurch (Dorset) Tourist Information Office and they told me that the Museum of Electricity definitely closed in 2012, and will not be reopening. I am therefore at a loss to understand the review from Hilda A (of Newport, Isle of Wight) saying ( apparently in September 2014!) that it was 'a great little museum'. I can only assume that she got the year wrong on her review. Sadly, the museum is permanently closed and should not figure on the website.

Great little museum, big tram downstairs and loads to see , I used to bring my school children here when I worked in nearby Bournemouth , but its good for all ages. Ideal for oldies tripping down memory lane as well.

“THE MUSEUM IS CLOSED”
Apr 2014 • Couples
Not sure how anyone was able to revue this as it was closed in 2012.
Road sign still in place, but venue does not display any opening times or any other information at all.
A wasted journey!

More people need to visit, very helpful staff willing to explain and demonstrate principles. Great learning and some nice exhibits, great for the town

A real walk back in time , you have to go yourself as I wouldn't want to spoil things but makes you think how we all got where we are today

Seems to not exist

Following a good write up in the latest Chichester Tourist magazine we decided to visit this museum on a rainy day. The signposts from the town centre were clear... Until we ended up in a street with no sign of any museum. On asking in a shop they told us where it was, and also that it seemed to spend more time closed than open. We followed their directions (no signposts!) and came to what looked like an old electric substation with locked gates. So, offer to The Priory then...

Another rainy day out

Housed in an old electricity building lovingly managed by volunteers. Amazing selection of old household appliances plus demonstrations of how electricity works for the children.

Nice but ruined.
Jun 2012 • Family
It was okay, however the demonstration upstairs in the science room on the day we went there was a man who did not like children. Although he is a volunteer he was unprofessional but the rest of the staff were great. He ruined the day for us.
