Went today - wanted to support local businesses whilst on holiday. Most of the shops were closed - v disappointing for tourists, in the tourist season. Good wool shop though.

Great Arts & Crafts Shops and Cafe
Aug 2021 • Couples
The Buttermarket is a number of arts and craft shops surrounding a paved courtyard with a cafe in the centre where you can sit and enjoy a hot or cold drink with some freshly made food.

The prices are all very reasonable whether you are looking for that special arts and crafts gift for a friend or family, or just a treat for yourself.

Nice to browse around for half an hour

Like others have already mentioned there is not too much going on here. We visited on a Saturday early afternoon so I think all units that would have been open at any time, were open. Maybe 8-10 artisan units open. Having said that it was still a nice thing to do. There were painters, ceramic shop, antique/curios shop, natural fragrance shop (which was really nice), jeweller and a few others. It’s situated in a courtyard away from all traffic so it’s lovely to amble around and safe for kids also. The cafe is the star of the show and made the whole experience even better. If you go with the right expectations you will enjoy this. It’s relaxing and the artisans were all very friendly to have a quick chat with.

Been here before so it is always good to return especially as there is a good cafe. Was able to avail of the government eat out deal too. Sime interesting shops within the site.

Closed!!!

Visited today. We had coffee and scones in the cafe. Very pleasant. Sadly that’s where our visit began and ended. The shops in the centre were closed!!! It was a beautiful morning and there were quite a few visitors about. Have to wonder what the point of the area is.

Very disappointed.

Actually was a complete waste of a walk. There are a few arts and craft shops but most were closed and what was there was very disappointing. Honestly won’t be back.

Cafe does well
Sep 2019
We wondered into this area hoping it would be brimming with local art ect . The only thing doing well was the cafe. Only one local artist was displaying her work (which was very nice) nothing else was open. We went twice hoping more shops would be open . It is almost abandoned.

Thought it would be worth a look

To be fair it’s not brilliant. Artisan shops selling paintings, pictures and pottery at what can only be described as ‘big windows saw you coming’ prices. We went into one gallery and there was one or 2 pictures that caught my eye but no prices on display. My husband caught a glimpse of a list on the wall and the average was £3000! I don’t think it was that nice!!! The butter market looked a bit dog eared and not massively interesting. There is a large cafe which must be the draw. An ice cream parlour other coffee venue wouldn’t go amiss. Can’t say that this visit enhanced my trip to Enniskillen.
