Great to have a stroll over and the views down the river are amazing. The lights are great and it just brings such an unusual interest to the Tyne river.

A lovely way to cross the Tyne. Elegant and clever, perfect for a Sunday morning walk. If you can manage it, walk up Dog Leap Steps on the Newcastle side and have a pint in the Bridge Inn opposite the Castle. The bridge takes bikes...More

Living on Tyneside I actually watched the giant crane deliver this structure onto the piers. Impressive up close and novel 'cycling colour lights' illumination looks good, now we have early darkness. Doesn't tip-up too often... but plenty of Utubes :<). Great city feature and stylish...More

We stayed at a nearby hotel so had to walk across this bridge to get to the city center. It’s a beautiful bridge and is lit up all different colours at night.

Worth a view if in Newcastle. Lovely when lit up at night and interesting to see it being lifted up and put back down.

Interesting bridge crossing the Tyne near to The Sage in Gateshead also known as blinking eye due to the way it tilts. Tilt times are available by searching on the internet so we were lucky enough to see it tilt.

It is worth making the visit just to see the bridge lit up at night! What a feat of engineering! We were lucky enough to see it in action during the day too!

It would take about an hour to walk along the riverside, or 20 mins on a bus

Please advise on my Newcastle itinerary which is part of a monthlong UK trip. I will be arriving at noon from Glasgow before which I would have been in Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Inverness and Skye. After Newcastle, I will go to Oxford and London and then overnight train back to Edinburgh for flight home. I will be exploring by public transpo only (mainly bus as I will get dayrider tickets). Please check if my itinerary makes sense. This is mainly the daytime itinerary. At night, I am very much...More

You are largely missing out the beautiful North Northumberland coast - Warkworth, Alnmouth, Craster/Dunstanburgh/Embledon, Farne Islands (boat from Seahouses), Bamburgh, Holy Island.
