Caedmon Hall at Gateshead Library - great night

Attending a music event in Caedmon Hall - first floor of the library - nice to have a car park just outside the venue. Had lovely coffee and cake in the café before the show meeting friends, new and old, there for the concert.
Table and chairs set out in the concert room, great sound and a great night.

Caedmon Hall

First visit to attend a music event in the Hall. Very enjoyable and comfortable venue, nice cafe (we had drinks only.) Too bad hardly anyone local we spoke to had heard of it, including my cab driver, who insisted that I meant the Shipley Art Gallery!

Nice gift shop
May 2017 • Solo
Gateshead Library is stooped in history and the old building now houses a Tourist Information Centre with a nice little gift shop, offering a lovely selection of local history books and even some hand made items from the area. Staff are always pleasant in my opinion and more than willing to help.

The first member of staff I approached was helpful and polite, the second member of staff was awful. I asked for help logging onto the computers, but because this required her to move from her chair it was not available. I ended up leaving in a worse position than I was when I arrived.
Atmosphere was nice, quite and there was a range of computers in different areas and a small selection of books available for loan.

I went here last week and got out 5 books.did you know you can get as many books as you like and you now go to a machine, scan your card then scan in the books you want and do the same when you bring them back.wow, what next. Mind you they do still have a human working there so if the machines don't work they do. Not sure if I like the idea of machines taking over. It's worth a visit.

St Paul's Church. Jarrow
May 2016 • Friends
On a tour tracing the early Christian Saints we were disappointed to find Bede's World museum closed. This important historical figure established himself at Jarrow and was a gifted man. Luckily we found St Paul's Church and the Churchwarden and learned about Anglo Saxon life in the Monastery. It is has later additions to the building, stone artefacts and a small gift shop.
Thank you. When will Bede's contribution to his time be reopened?
