Try the tour
Oct 2016
Went for the tour and found quite interesting but rather speedy delivery. Pub attached serving their beer. Unsure when it opens to the public. Been a couple of times when its closed but when open the beer is really refreshing and tasty.

Should be better
Apr 2016 • Solo
Have been in several times but it started as a guessing game and it's ended as a guessing game. In between there was great beer which perhaps should be sold to pubs rather than the unassuming opening time public that try to pop in, when 'open'.

All the best, maybe brew and don't serve. Why are you never open when you say you are?!

Brilliant bar attached to independent micro brewery.

I discovered Oates after moving into the local area. Having previously lived in the centre of York I was desperate to find something similar to the small independent bars I had been frequenting in York city centre.

Oates Pallet Bar ticked all the boxes and more! Lovely bar with great, friendly staff who are happy to help, knowledgeable and very good to their customers. We've been lucky so far to rope the barman in as an additional player on a board game (still didn't help the boys win against the girls!) and even been given a lift home after walking down to the bar in torrential rain with the dog!

Which is another huge plus point- the bar is dog friendly (actually it's everyone friendly) and over the course of an evening you can bump into all sorts of people including musicians, workers from the industrial estate, radio presenters, WI and Round Table groups, walkers, cyclists and more dog owners.

I would thoroughly recommend anyone visiting Halifax tries out the Oates Brewery Pallet Bar. In fact for a really good day I would recommend a walk encompassing the Shibden Mill Inn, The Cock O' The North, The Travellers (Hipperholme) and Oates Pallet bar.

hidden gem
Oct 2015
On our doorstep, yet we have never visited. The tour - excellent talk about how beer brewing process works, and why - followed by chance to sample the brews. All staff so friendly and welcoming The bar is cosy and complete with wood burner for the colder days. When the sun shines nice seats outside. Hidden in the industrial estate not far from the cats eyes factory and well worth a visit. Or 2. Or 3.

We visited last night. Friendly staff who are very knowledgeable. The tour was very well explained and not rushed in any way. Lots of tasty beers. A tour which is well worth visiting.

Wow!!
Sep 2015 • Couples
Wow and I mean wow, what a different bar! Popped in out of pure curiosity as we pass by the industrial estate the bar is in often and saw the signs. The beer is excellent and very good value at £2.50 a pint. The bar itself is small and very unique. Staff very friendly. Hoping now that I can get booked onto one of the brewery tours as that sounds like good fun! Would recommend hunting this place out as it's brilliant if a little off the beaten rack.

Well worth a visit
Aug 2015 • Couples
We came across this local gem by way of Groupon and an offer to do the brewery visit. I must say that despite the brilliant value offered by the tour I would not hesitate in recommending a visit. The bar itself is brilliant value for money offering fine craft beers from £2:50 a pint. The tour was taken by "chappers", the head brewer, a man who's knowledge you could not question. The rest of the staff where great and very welcoming, a visit is a must.

WI night out
Jul 2015 • Friends
I am not a beer drinker but love the idea of seeing how it is brewed,we went along and first we were offered a glass of beer, several choices and the strengths were clearly shown then we went into the brewery, it is fascinating just how little room is needed if you use it right. we were given a really good talk from the main brewers and then back into the pub for more beer. I tasted a couple and bought some for my son. we were given a souvenir half pint glass. the staff were all cheerful and helpful when it came to choosing a drink. would certainly recommend it
