Really friendly welcome to visiting supporters of Halifax Town, lovely old pub with an excellent range of beers and ciders. 5 minutes from The Shay - the perfect place for a pint before the game!

I visited this place on my way to the Shay - there was over an hour to go before kick off so plenty of time to enjoy a brew - or 2! Bar staff were courteous and polite even when faced with an army of thirsty football fans! There was a good selection of Ossett ales which were in very good condition and the locals seemed friendly enough. Only regret is I was going to try one of their pies but changed my mind. Would deffo go there again.

The Three Pigeons is situated close to the Shay stadium as well as being a short walk from Halifax station. It is a lovely building in Art Deco style with a splendid range of beer from the Ossett Brewery. There’s a nice selection of pork pies on offer with various fillings. I opted for the regular version which was delicious with crispy pastry and jelly, unlike the offerings from supermarkets. A must for the beer lover on a visit to Halifax.

Very nice art deco pub inside very close to the station. Full of football fans when I visited. Large selection of beers.

Where do I start? First the new landlord: friendly, committed and knowledgeable. The beer: a wonderful selection of both Ossett's excellent range and some guests, plus a cask cider. The ones I tried were on top form. The interior: a range of 5 snugs and other rooms, enabling a quiet and relaxed atmosphere to prevail, with no piped music or other interference to good conversation. The art deco mural of the pigeons above the drinking lobby is sensational, as are many of the other fittings. The fact that this pub is not currently in the Good Beer Guide is a travesty: it would be as strong candidate for National Pub of the Year. See it before you die.
