I visited this place on my way to the Shay - there was over an hour to go before kick off so plenty of time to enjoy a brew - or 2! Bar staff were courteous and polite even when faced with an army of thirsty football fans! There was a good selection of Ossett ales which were in very good condition and the locals seemed friendly enough. Only regret is I was going to try one of their pies but changed my mind. Would deffo go there again.

This pub is listed in the CAMRA book of heritage pub interiors.Quite rightly, it's grade II listed.
Now owned by Ossett brewery , who have done a great renovation.
Good real ales from Ossett and some guest beers, and a variety of pork pies for enthusiasts.
Warm and welcoming with real fires on a wintry day.
Check opening hours before visiting as they don't open until 4 pm Monday - Thursday.

Where do I start?
First the new landlord: friendly, committed and knowledgeable.
The beer: a wonderful selection of both Ossett's excellent range and some guests, plus a cask cider. The ones I tried were on top form.
The interior: a range of 5 snugs and other rooms, enabling a quiet and relaxed atmosphere to prevail, with no piped music or other interference to good conversation. The art deco mural of the pigeons above the drinking lobby is sensational, as are many of the other fittings.
The fact that this pub is not currently in the Good Beer Guide is a travesty: it would be as strong candidate for National Pub of the Year.
See it before you die.

A traditional pub that's supplied by a good local brewer. It's moved with the real ale trend but is not pretentious enough to ignore those who want the ordinary stuff.
A pub on it's own but perfectly sat in between Train Station and Football Ground.
Heritage interior with as many rooms as customers at times, a group can have one to themselves or you can join the friendly locals in another. Pies are also top notch with plenty of choice.
It was a match day and was serving both Real Ale and Coors light drinkers so no tutting off the Camra types in here.

This place is not to be judged by the cover / location. Inside it has a bar full of excellently well kept real ales, friendly staff. CAMRA discount. The pub is a few quirky rooms with roaring fires this time of year (okay they are gas, real fire imitations, but still nice) with the back room having a dart board for sure fun arrow throwing. One criticism, I like dogs and they are obviously welcome here, but owners ought to be a bit more responsible. One very large dog up on the seats isn’t very nice when the customers are going to sit there next, covered in dog hair or worse. Please give me a helpful vote did this review was useful. Thanks.

Oh Lordy. Be in no doubt, you're somewhere very special.

A standalone, handsome stone building gives absolutely nothing away regarding what's going to hit you right between the eyes once inside. Well, maybe the Ossett brewery sign on the side of the building let's you know you're going to be pretty well covered for ales and that is absolutely confirmed upon entering as the main bar has pump after pump after pump of wonderful ales,

But before you get to choosing and enjoying the liquid pleasures, what really knocks you for six and becomes readily apparent within 0.7246 seconds of entering is that you've time-travelled and somehow teleported your humble existence back to the year of our Lord 1932, solely through the use of some personal gumption and the generally reliable medium of shank's pony.

Blimey. What a feast for the eyes. Not one, not two, not three, not four but five from memory, separate rooms, all with a pretty much perfect Art Deco flavour.

Pretty gobsmacking if I'm honest. And the more you look, the more you see and the the more you look again, the more you see again. The wood, the tiling, the angles, the lettering on the signage, the whole lot.

The TP would score a four just on the architecture alone but when you add lovely enthusiastic staff, great ales at great prices, five is the only score you can give. And talking of five, it's only about a five minute walk from Halifax station so no blather please that you couldn't find it.

Mine was a fleeting lunchtime visit on a beautiful Sunday in mid-May but I was there long enough to dissolve into the whole experience and take it all in.

An absolute whopper that once you've been, you'll want to return to, like a homing pigeon.

I called in at the three pigeons whilst travelling home to Leeds via train as it's only a short walk from the station it's a credit to the owners and staff a really clean honest pub. Beers are well kept and fairly priced art deco Interior is well worth a visit alone

We'd already heard about this place but decided to try it for ourselves. So different to what I'd expected. I was blown away by the amazing Art Deco and hubby loved the great choice of beers. Good clientele even though it's quite near the town, just far enough away to avoid the rowdy revellers! We'll be going again!

We are so lucky to have the pigeons as our nearest (ok second nearest) pub and the Big Six not a long way off either. Fabulous pub with good beer and a lovely atmosphere.

Brilliant choice of ales. Great local pub. Friendly staff, characterful interior. Outdoor seating. Much better than all the chain places nearby. Highly recommended.
