From the moment you step over the door of the church you are welcome. A beautiful team take time to set you off on a journey around this historical but very much alive church. If you are a person of faith, or not, here you will find sanctuary. Wholly recommend a special quiet space that has been established, along with resources to help you if you’re struggling in any way. I could not recommend this place highly enough.

Although my friends have lived and worked locally for 50 years they have never visited here. The volunteers are helpful and there is a free leaflet. We were shown the font where Anne Lister was baptized as well as her memorial stone. The font cover is around 500 years old. One of the minster's walls is 900 years old although much of the fabric of the church is 19th century.

This is a fantastic building breathing of ancient history and the volunteers who help out were a credit to the Minster. Unfortunately, it was a dull day and the interior was rather dark but still the stained glass was stunning and the story of the church was jaw dropping! We rounded off our visit with a delicious fruitcake and cups of tea. An unmissable visit, even if it was followed by an Altrincham defeat in the football match later in the afternoon! Thank you.

The Minster looks so bleak with its blackened walls but inside it is quite impressive. There is a lot of detail which isn't covered by the leaflet so it is well worth chatting to the volunteers who know so much about this place. AND they make it interesting. There is more to the Minster than the Anne Lister connection.

It's a wonderful Grade 1 listed church with original box pews, spectacular stained glass, an amazing font and cover ... The volunteers were welcoming and informative. When I was there an organist (visiting) was preparing for a service the following day celebrating the anniversary of the Queen's accession and played what he described as a 'very loud' piece. Indeed it was! But apart from that, I was overwhelmed by the quiet majesty of the building.

Stunning building; the dark interior is uplifting rather than sombre. The guides gave some fascinating information and were really helpful, even though we arrived just before it closed. Anne Lister’s memorial is here (Gentleman Jack). Small carpark very close.

So much history and personalities of Halifax and beyond inhabit this place. Time needs to be taken to view the memorials and wonderful stained glass windows. Breathe in the sacred silence where hundreds of years of prayer and praise saturate the very walls. Take time to be still. A wonderful place.

I was visiting the Piece Hall and had parked near the Minster so went to have a look. What a lovely find, really beautiful inside. Interestingly linked to Anne Lister but also to France were monks travelled from Cluny to help build it 900 years ago. Grade 1 listed. Lovely volunteer on duty, very helpful. A must see

Didnt even know it existed!! It is terrific. Ancient place even older than me. It is lovely to walk around for whatever purpose you have visted. It really is magnificent. We were greeted by 2 ladies who were delightful. They presented us with an information leaflet and we chatted about the place for ages. They were ace - Thank you. The organ was playing and that added to the enjoyment

Don't be put off by the dark exterior to this large place of worship. Inside it is glorious. Collect a free and informative church guide on entry and you will be rewarded by a rich amount of history and some beautiful windows, bwar memorials and plaques.
I spent twenty minutes inside the building and thoroughly enjoyed my time there.
