I haven’t walked in Burbage woods on a regular basis since our children were little. Covid 19 has changed all that and we’re now going for a daily walk in our local woods. Overall, compared to walking on local streets it is quite acceptable. We are not dog people. It seems that the local council have recently removed dog waste bins in the woods, meaning that dog waste bags are hung on trees or left on the ground. H&BBC may need to review their policy of only having bins in the car parks.

We visited the woods today and enjoyed a lovely sunny walk.
There is a huge shortage of dog poo bins and we spotted several dog poo bags at various points throughout the walk, which was almost unknowingly trying to make a point of ideal places for the bins to be situated.
We started our walk at the woods and had to carry the waste until we got the play area at the end, where several bins were available.
On a positive note it was refreshing to not have to pay for parking, but would happily do so if it meant you’d invest in more waste/poo bins being made available.

1st time visiting and we loved the peace and quiet amongst nature. Lots of routes to take, lots of friendly dog walkers. Nice play park for youngsters (1 swing needed attention as was broken). Fairly pricey cafe. Great free parking.

Enjoyed the walk with friend and dog. Had taken own coffee as we were not sure if there would be a cafe open. There was so we bought cake and sat to eat and drink our coffee. After 20 minutes we were about to get up when a 'server' (female) said we couldn't sit and drink our own drinks. My friend explained why and that we had bought cake, which was twice the price if 2 coffees, to which she said we couldn't sit there and as she walked off she said 'you're taking the Mickey' (racist??) I said we hadn't meant to to which she came very close to my face and said 'you are because we sell coffee's. I appreciate what she said is true, but her manner was rude and offensive. I advise customer service training for this individual especially. We wont visit again and will pass our poor experience on.

Visited on a hot September day. Whilst underfoot was dry we were disappointed that Mays cafe had closed. Don't know how long it has been closed? A drink would have been welcome. Lots of walkers, dog walkers and joggers. Noticed some poo bags on the ground. Need for more bins!!!

Really nice location and nice walks but there seems to be an ongoing problem with selfish dog owners. I thought it was strange that there were several notices about keeping dogs under control on the entrance gates but was soon to realise why. I've never been in such a place where dog owners seem to take great pleasure in annoying other visitors using their dogs as tools.

Make sure you visit May's farmhouse cafe. Dogs catered for too with bowls of water and cheap chews. The best local honey around. Wonderful bacon sandwiches and prices are brilliant.
