This is a really great historic place, very interesting and exciting. The environment is, as usual in Shetland, marvellous and you will have a great time!

We visited here on the very last day of our trip and were so glad we did. The buildings are tucked away down a slope quite hidden and it feels like you are entering a time portal. Dank and dark inside with a smoky fire...More

The museum is in a restored traditional farmhouse unfortunately it was closed when we visited. The outside of the property was interesting as there are several unique buildings including a old boat that was repurposed as the roof of a storage hut. It is mind...More

This was my fifth visit to this tiny place and if I come to Shetland again I will definitely be going back! The steward was incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share information and despite the whole place only occupying a few square feet I felt...More

During our privately contracted via the Internet, Shetland Mini-Bus tour, our driver / guide Grant Redfern, proudly showed us the immaculately preserved Croft House dating to the 1880s, left as the original owner left it at his death in 1960- The only update (for safety...More

Loved our visit. We hit lucky and got the place to ourselves, met the lovely Linda, who told us so much about the history of the place, and Shetland itself. A really worth while place to visit, and experience what it’s like stood in that...More

This was lived in by a farmer until his death and is just as he left it. Peat was burning in the fireplace. Original furnishings and thatched roof. Don't bypass thsi.

This old croft, restored to how it used to look when the last occupant left in the 1960's is well worth a visit, especially to the kid generation who start to shake uncontrollably when they can't get internet access! Simple, hard living but fascinating, allow...More

We took a bus from Lerwick. It was maybe a 15-20 minutes walk from the bus stop to the Croft House museum but that was not a problem. I suggest you check the time tables for the buses back to Lerwick before you go.
