Highly recommended! Make sure to visit the Museum as a big enhancement to any trip to Shetland. The staff are so friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Jordan and Sara took time to explain so much to us about Shetland and this added so much to our experience, thank you! Could easily have spent longer and left with a strong desire to find out more and return, loved it!

We had such a lovely time here, so much to see, not enough time.
When we’re next back, we will certainly visit.
Staff were very friendly, and although the coffee shop was closed, due to COVID regulations. Staff very kindly said we could sit there

If you are in Lerwick then visit the Museum and Archives. It gives a great timeline of how Island life started and through to present day. There is a cafe too, although we didn't use it this time.

A fantastic museum which is obviously run by highly skilled curators and staff. - It gives a timeline of the Shetlands from it's early geological formation through to the 20th century.
It has some marvellous artefacts (I especially liked the Pictish broaches) and enough information to educate but not overwhelm and certainly sparked my interest to find and read some books on some specific parts of it's history.

A credit to the islands.

The displays and information are splendid with enough information to make it a pleasure to read rather than feeling overwhelmed with too much.
The staff were superb, so friendly and extremely helpful with any questions including information about otter spotting!

This museum is clearly laid out in a time line that guides one through the life of the island over the centuries. Enough detail is given without being overwhelming and the cafe area allows visitors a pleasant break.
