In May 2017 we visited this distillery and thoroughly enjoyed the tour and their history of Whisky making. The barley floor was particularly interesting. We decided that the Highland Park 12 is our favorite with its full peaty taste.

Thank you for re-visiting us, after 14 years it was great to welcome you back! We're sorry the tour was slightly restricted but we have some important work going on behind the scenes to keep the whisky flowing!

This is my second time to the distillery. One of the few distilleries still keeps malting on-site. Staffs always nice and very helpful. Learnt a lot about process from the operators and very valuable knowledge obtained. Special mention about Erik the production leader and James!

Whiskey/Scotch Private driver/Tours (4 Replies)
Hello, I will be visiting Inverness, Scotland mid October for 7 days for the purpose of whiskey/scotch tasting with my brother and wife ( 4). We are hoping to visit the Macallan Distillery as well Highland Park Distillery. Any Suggestions? Thank you in advance, Alex Torres Florida, USA

If you are asking for someone to drive you to these Distilleries then just hire a Taxi or Private Hire Car (mini-Cab). But you do know that Highland Park is on Orkney! That’s one helluva drive, Plus Ferry! To sample a half of Whisky 🥃 Macallan being in Aberlour is more realistic although still a fair drive.

I want to make a reservation for a tour at the Highland Park Distillery, but they do not respond to my emails. Tried to phone them, but only got an answer-machine. Did anyone have the same problem? Should I switch to another distillery?

Their website states booking advised, but not essential (and gives two methods of contacting them for booking a visit). Unless a large cruise ship is in town, you should be OK. As there are limited distillery options on Orkney, where else are you visiting in Scotland that would open up an other option for a distillery visit?

Advice for Early April (13 Replies)
Hello Scotland Experts, We will have a chance to spend 5-6 days in Scotland in early April (10 days total in the UK). We are planning to train from LND to EDI then pick up a car. We set our sights on Highland Park distillery based on some initial google search. The questions: 1. what are some of the key places (food, scenery, hikes, castles, etc) we should include along the way? we both in good health - so should be able to take whatever Scotland can throw at us. 2. any small size...More
