About
*Please Note: The T11 tours will be postponed until further notice* The Orkney Isles are famous for their dramatic cliffs, early cultural museums and historical stone monuments from Neolithic times. Stagecoach bus route T11 will give visitors the opportunity to visit some of the Islands highlights including Skara Brae, The Ring of Brodgar andThe Standing Stones of Stenness, all for only £16 per person! Departing Kirkwall daily at 10am, you can admire the spectacular scenery from the top deck of our bus. Don’t forget you can join and leave the timetabled route at any point and connections are available using other Stagecoach services. Outwith built up areas, all our services run on a ‘hail and ride’ basis. So provided you can get to a safe spot on the main roads, simply make it clear to our driver that you’d like to get on board. If you are travelling in a group you can even give us advance warning of your group size and where you’ll be boarding.

Amazing!!!
Aug 2019
Based at John O'Groats we took the forty minute ferry over to Orkney to pick up our coach for the Orkney tour. First stop was Kirkwall for an hour. I went for lunch and the wife went to the cathedral. It has large very ornate windows creating a warm feeling. It was even more appealing as her cousins husbands brother got married there. We moved on to the next stop scara brae. The site was busy with Japanese and American tourists. There was not enough time to see it all.Next was the standing stones.again not enough time to walk round it all. The bus driver was very knowledgeable infoming us of the local history. We did not go into the Italian chapel as you had to pay and we only had ten minutes. The tour is well worth the cost but the organisers should consider more time for each attraction.

Lovely way to see Orkney and cheap!

Thank you Tripadvisor for information about the T11 bus! Only in Kirkwall for one day from our cruise and the ship's tour was almost identical but twice the price. An extra bus was laid on but we were lucky to be on first and sat on the top deck at the front. Be aware the back of the top deck is open to the elements! 3.5 hours trip through rolling countryside with great vistas including Scapa Flow. Had 1.5 hours stop at Skarn Brae and short stop at the stone circles. Shame there was no commentary but had helpful maps and info.

Great half day Outing with Informative Driver
Aug 2019
We had superb weather which helped, but we also had Sean from deepest Essex as our driver and guide. He gave a wonderfully informed and informative commentary which helped to make the coach trip memorable. Of course the sights of Scalloway, Skara Brae, Skaill House, Ring of Brodgar, Maes Howe and the Stenness Stones were just terrific but the pleasant journey along excellent roads was made all the better thanks to Sean.

T11 bus for the budget traveller
Jul 2019 • Couples
Although the price is now £15 each is is a convenient and cheap option against the other options for those without a car. The 90 minute stop at Skara Brae and 30 minute stop at the ring of Bridger were perfectly adequate. As we had pre booked Maes Howe for 2 pm the bus driver dropped us off at the road junction for a 10 minute walk to the new visitor centre in Stennes.

expected some commentry, especially considering the price, but it is just a bus taking you to two places of interest. the bus itself is old and we were surprised it made it all the way. we were told that it often breaks down.

Excellent choice for us!

The T11 is a great way to see the archaeological sites on Mainland Orkney. The bus covers the basic sites as noted. Drivers are friendly, safe, and knowledgeable. Ours stopped briefly at the Standing Stones of Stenness, which seemed like a bit of a bonus that we just had time for. But otherwise, Scara Brae and the Ring of Brogdar were highlights.

Good value and highly recommended, 3-4 hour trip. Leaves from the bus station in Kirkwall, next to the tourist office.

See Scara Brae and Ring of Brodgar
May 2019
Inexpensive bus tour with time to visit the two archaeological sites. Takes about 3 hours round-trip from Kirkwall bus station. After the stops at Scara Brae and Brodgar, it is possible to leave the tour at Maes Howe to visit the burial mound and then catch the scheduled X1 (Stromness-Kirkwall) service back to Kirkwall (for an additional couple of £)

Brilliant trip
Mar 2019 • Friends
For a cost of £12 we had a ride from 10am to nearly 2pm. The ticket was also valid on other buses that day. Great value with 2stops to visit Skara Brae and Ring of Brogdar. Stunning scenery passing Scala flow along the way.

Peter Wrigley best T11 driver
Sep 2018 • Solo
I had a great time on the Stagecoach operated T11 tourist bus, late September. For 9 pounds I got on at Stromness to stop off at Skara Brae (8 pounds for 90 minutes), Ring of Brogdar, (free 20 mins) and Stenness Stones ( free10 mins.) and then Kirkwall. I went again on my second full day and the same bus driver, Peter Wrigley gave me lots of tips and information about the stones and recommended Elaine, the ranger, who does tours of the Ring of Brogdar. I stayed for the talk and took his advice and took the parth alongside the wild life reserve, past the (closed) Ness of Brogdar to Stenness and then the Barnhouse (better than Skara Brae because I could touch the stones - and free) and then walked to the intersection where, as he said, I could and did, flag down a regular bus. Amazing feeling, watching a parade of whooping swans flying in, with one cygnet in tow. Many thanks, Peter - I wouldn't have had such a wonderful afternoon without your advice!

Eventful bus journey to Skara Brae!
Sep 2018 • Couples
Cruise ship stopped at Kirkwall. We saw the good reviews about no 12 bus from Kirkwall which does a round trip to Skara Brae. The same thing costs about £50 on the cruise ship tours. This bus departs at 10am from the square outside the tourist information. You can wait inside there for it. It costs £12 and is a bargain. Only trouble is our bus broke down after about half an hour in the middle of nowhere! We had to wait an hour while a replacement finally came. It was a bit worrying as with a cruise you are on a strict timetable and a bit of a worry, would we get back to the ship on time? However all was well and as it was an ordinary double decker that was sent, the people upstairs were at least warm. It was freezing up there in the wind. The bus visits other sites as well as Skara Brae, ancient stone circles etc. Orkney is wild and beautiful, this is the best and cheapest way to see it.

Hi, We are pleased you found the tour good value for money and felt it was the best way to visit the beautiful attractions Orkney has to offer. I hope the unfortunate breakdown didn't dampen your visit too much, we apologise for the inconvenience you experienced on your trip because of it. Thank you for the review.
