Stopped off in Lowestoft on way home from Norfolk. Saw the direction sign to the Maritime Museum so decided to give it a try. From the outside it looked a little less than imposing. On entering told the price was £2. I thought I had gone back in time! The museum is all on one floor and is not what... More

Small museum but well laid out and dense with exhibits: model boats, lots of photographs, some interesting maps and lots of equipment. The gentleman who showed us round was very well informed and a pleasure to listen to.

This was a most interesting visit. You cannot help but marvel at the outstanding courage of the sailors based in Lowestoft in past times. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable.

We visited with a party of 16 friends. We all found the museum of great interest. There is something for everyone with photos, information, well laid out displays, models of boats, 'hands on' equipment e.g. Ships' radio. Modern technology also played a part with the screen to connect to Marinetraffic.com so we were able to track ships in real time.... More

My wife and I visited the Maritime Museum on a Saturday in July and found it to be very interesting particularly about the herring fishing industry that this port was once famous for. The artefacts are numerous and the film shows very informative. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.
