Most farmers markets are now stuffed with gee-gaws and trinkets made in Asia but Tavi market has local craftspeople and artisans to fill out the space in between the fish, veggies and meats. There is also a real "Cheese Shop" adjoining the market, straight out of Python but you'll always find what you want there!

Tavistock is an ancient market town, so you'd expect something worthwhile, but at its best the farmer's market is truly outstanding. The sustainably produced Dartmoor pony meat products alone would make it worth a visit, but you're also likely to find a wide range of fine, artisanal products: meats, veg, beer, cider, spirits and more. There also tend to be craft stalls, useful stalls for bicycle and machinery repair and two or more nursery stalls. Two outstanding ones often present are the Teign Valley Bakery and Devonchilliman's mind-blowing collection of chilli products.

Went here a few times during a week long stay in Tavistock. Amazed at the choice of wares on sale. Some niche products. Well worth a visit or two.

This lovely farmers produce market is worth a visit. Vegetables, meat, fish, bread, cakes, plants and more. You will also enjoy the pannier market and the excellent high street shops too. We paid £2.50 for a whole days parking.
