- Rosie9 contributionsLovely spa dayMe and my boyfriend visited on a high tea & leisure spa day for £55 each! I was reluctant about coming after easing mixed reviews on here and Facebook! However it was a lovely day! The lady on reception showed us briefly around which was nice! We had pre-booked our gym and pool slots! We were pleasantly surprised by the gym as there was a great range of equipment! We then spent some time in the pool! Lovely big pool with a great jacuzzi. The only issue was the pool got busy around 13:00, so we didn’t swim as we didn’t want to get too close to people in the pool! Relaxation area was fab! Our back massages were great! The therapists were super friendly. Then we finished off with afternoon tea in the hotel. We sat on the balcony as we had requested since the nice weather. Luke warm hot chocolate but lovely cakes! As cream lovers, we were sad to only have one small cream pot with our 4 scones! Not enough at all! Our table could’ve been cleaner! And would have been nice to have been checked up on as we would’ve bought a second drink with our tea! All in all a nice day and good value for money!Written September 10, 2020
- Emily B3 contributionsHighly recommend stay and spa packageWe were worried about coming here after reading such negative reviews so came with low expectations for our overnight stay and spa package. We actually ended up having such a good time and feel like we got excellent value for money. The hotel room and restaurant were excellent, as well as our massage treatments the following day. Our room was very spacious with an amazing view of the downs, and the food was fantastic. The majority of staff were friendly and professional and the health club facilities were good, maybe in need of a bit of a refresh. Overall we have really enjoyed our stay so don’t be fooled by the over-negative reviews. The spa and stay packages are excellent value for money so we will definitely come here again.Visited February 2023Traveled with friendsWritten February 13, 2023
- Smarties40 contributionsSpa DayCame here for a spa day the changing rooms were big and lots lockers available to use. The code system on the lockers is easy to use as well. We managed to get beds around the pool but maybe a few more could be added as by lunchtime it was quite busy around the pool and there were people having to stand. The facial I had was lovely and I really enjoyed it but did feel slightly quicker than 25 minutes but overall I really enjoyed it. The afternoon tea in the hotel was really nice and the food was lovely and staff really helpful. The view of the grounds was great to look out on to whilst eating as well.Written January 11, 2020
- Neil Loader3 contributionsEarlier critical reviewDespite requesting an answer the hotel manager has not responded. We have asked for clarification to their charges as we all believed we had booked for 2 nights and not one. The charges were unacceptable and I await a reply again re your charges. It appears you seem to forget about the service once we had left. I strongly hope that others clarify your charges and are not totallly misled and openly lied too.Visited September 2020Written October 4, 2020
- Charlotte1 contributionSpa day and Afternoon teaI feel the reviews don’t give an honest opinion on the quality of the spa and food. The staff are all very young and I feel possibly lack experience in customer service. They do not great you or say hello unless prompted. Once arrived and after filling out paper work you were left to it to navigate your day. The spa is run down. It is suitable as a gym pool but I wouldn’t describe it as a ‘Spa’. Not all the facilities were working and the options of robes and slippers where not available. You are also lucky if you get a bed to place your towel. Our treatment only lasted 15 minutes instead of 25 minutes, although this was the best part of the day, if you are paying for a certain experience you would expect to get the minimum at least. The afternoon tea was hands down the worst part. It was clearly pre made, left for a while and didn’t even look refrigerated. We had to ask for our drinks after 20 minutes and both left over half the food. It wasn’t presented as it shows in the photos. The only positive I can offer is when I did make a complaint the guy behind the reception was quick to get me a manager and it was acted on quickly. Having been to a few spa days and for the cost of some of the spa packages that our offered here, I would recommend going somewhere else and paying the same and you will get much better.Written November 1, 2021
- OnAir5224441 contributionThievesI didn't want to write this review but have been left no chocie as we have been totally ignored despite being promised a full refund. My sister, Mother and I attended on the 8th October for a spa day and the service we recieved was truly shocking. All treatments were delayed by over an hour, casuing multiple individuals to wait together in a tiny area, all complaining. The therapists commented multiple times how stressed they were to us, not making for the relaxing day we had hoped for. All looked unhappy and shouted out the names of who was next like a register at school, then asking what treatment they wanted, the therapists simply didn't have a clue. No apologies from the head therapist who also came into work half an hour late (we were informed this by another member of staff). My sister was taken into a treatment room where someone was midway through their massage which was incredibly awkward. All of the treatment rooms were cold, the therapist stated this was because they "forgot" to turn the heater on in the morning. The lunch was no better, the food was laughable and looked similar to a child's school dinner with unseasoned, boiled veg. All of our meals came out at different times with at least a 10-15 min wait between people. This was happening to multiple tables as all were complaining. When asking for a flat white coffee, the staff member asked us "what's that again?" The spa supervisor Michelle was embarrassed at the level of service we had recieved and apologetic therefore had agreed to request from her manager to provide us with a full refund. We had email agreement a day or so later confirming this had been authorised and they would process our £300 refund. We are now over a month on and NO money has been refunded. We have emailed and called multiple times and always told the "person" we need to speak to is either unavailable, off sick or left the company. We have been given countless promises to be called back within a few hours and what a suprise, never any call backs are made. We called on Wednesday and spoke to the spa manager who promised us that she would resolve this and call us back with an update that afternoon - once again no call. We are now calling daily and constantly fobbed off with fake promises. It's becoming a joke and East Sussex National are taking the mic out of us. We are not looking for excuses to be made by East Sussex National, we simply want our refund that you have promised us. Please note, unless the £300 is refunded within the next 2 days, we will be returning in person to speak to the necessary individual and obtain the refund.Written November 11, 2022
- Carla WBraunton, United Kingdom1 contributionTried our hardest to be a customer, but apparently they didn’t want our customWe were back and forth on the phone and email for over 2 weeks but we eventually simply just gave up! 1. It looks like pool access is limited to one hour 2. I am unable to book a week in advance as although I contacted your colleagues over a week ago, I still haven’t been able to book anything for 14th September, despite my best efforts. I asked (repeatedly) about being able to book a spa day and a night at the hotel for two people. The responses have been slow and piecemeal and aside from it being frustrating for me, I just don’t understand how and why booking a spa day and night at a spa hotel has been so difficult - to the extent I’ve given up! I’ve tried, quite hard as you can see from my e-mails (I have also called at least 4 times) to be your customer. I appreciate Covid has made everyone’s lives different. Again, I don’t know if or how this has effected your booking process, but the upshot is I can’t book either a spa day and a night at the hotel with any guarantee of what I’m actually buying. I’m sure, in those circumstances you probably wouldn’t want to pay for a non refundable hotel/spa package either! Please can you pass this feedback on to whoever needs to deal with it, such as the hotel and/or spa manager.Written September 10, 2020
- EB98105 contributionsAppalling ServiceHave been trying for the last four days to book a spa day for 5 adults at East Sussex National each time I select option 5 on the phone for the Spa it goes to voice mail which we’ve left a message we have also emailed twice. I have also spoken to two members of staff on different options who said they will pass on our details but still haven’t heard back. If this is what the service is going to be like then perhaps it’s a lucky escape of not using there service and facilities. Very very poor.Written June 13, 2021

My mum bought my sister and I a spa day for approx £120. This covered use of facilities and lunch. We decided to also book a back treatment which was advertised as £47. Upon arrival we were told it would now be £50 each as prices had increased since we booked, which we paid.
The masseuse seemed lovely and friendly and I asked if during the massage she could concentrate on my shoulders. She said she couldn't unless I had a neck and shoulder massage but offered that to me instead. I agreed and although it was nice I felt like it was very short. She had started at 1010 and left the room to allow me to dress at 1027!
I queried this with her and she stated she had brought me into the treatment room at 10 and actually given me 5 minutes extra. Admittedly at this point I felt a bit awkward about challenging that statement and said nothing further.
On return to the waiting area my sister commented I had only been gone a short while.
I have never given feedback or queried a massage or treatment buy asked if I could have a quick word at reception. I summarised what had happened and also explained that I didn't realise I was choosing a lower value massage when it was offered. The receptionist told me that was my choice , to which I acknowledged but stated that it wasn't made clear that 25 minutes included the consulation dressing/ undressing etc . The receptionist then stated I had over 20 minutes to which I clarified that I hadn't. At the this point she reiterated that I had and it appeared pointless in saying anymore.
It felt somewhat awkward after that! I personally wouldn't come back here as it felt like a money making scheme rather than a relaxing day.
I would advise others to perhaps buy a day pass while giving the treatment a miss.

The Spa Is awful, there is dirt everywhere and just an awful lack of cleaning , and there is Fire exit signs missing , there is no hand soap in the changing rooms. The whole place looks like it is falling apart, the SPA Sauna is just just awful and all the floors and walls are filthy.
The tranquility room is full of Beds that have not been replaced or cleaned for months, there is various stains all over them.
The main changing rooms are shocking, lack of cleaning and just lack common cleaning standards.
The pool is nice but again lack of cleaning standrads and everything like the SPA is just faded and dirty and missing tiles and just 1990's at best .
Again Beds around the pool that are never cleaned or maintained, there appears to be one cleaner that does one shift a day and thats it.
Avoid this venue at all costs if you care about your general health , how this place has not been shut down for health and safety reasons I don't know.
Most of the staff are very young and just float about doing nothing, there is also a very high turn over of staff.
Apparently the is a new HEALTH CLUB manager but it seems things have got even worse and more sub standard.
Avoid at all costs, if you work for Lewes / Eastbourne Council please do an Investigation ASAP.

I never write reviews, seems a whole lot of effort, but my this spa has literally made me the angriest I have ever been. it is IMPOSSIBLE to contact ANYONE at the Hotel, Health Club, Spa, Golf resort. I spent more than a week calling all numbers and emailing all email addresses to confirm my spa times booked via Spabreaks.com and couldn't get through at all. I left multiple messages that no one responded too. This has disappointed my mother as despite me booking and paying for a spa day she will not receive one for her Birthday.
