We found this donkey sanctuary by accident and I wasnt sure as I have other donkey sanctuary's i Iove so much I thought I wouldn't like it here. I WAS SO WRONG. We absolutely LOVED IT. The donkeys come over for a stroke, the helpers were knowledgeable and passionate about caring for the donkeys. The donkeys brayed to fill my heart with warmth and love. They are donkeys of all sizes and colours. All unique with their quirky shapes and personalities!!! If you love donkeys go and see them you will not regret it. Soak up a little bit of donkey wonder and magic xxxxxxxxx

Lots of free parking, a shop selling all things donkey and nice staff. This sanctuary caters for about 150 donkeys and relies on donations etc to allow it to do it's valuable work. Definitely worth a visit and lots of donkeys to pat and photograph.

Lovely setting for a sanctuary. Friendly knowledgeable staff who are more than happy to talk about the donkeys and the other animals here. The animals look healthy and well looked after. It is free to visit but, of course, donations are more than welcome. There is a shop and a little cafe which was not open at the time of our visit.

First visit for nearly 2 years. Place seems to have had a massive upgrade during the lockdown period. New Donkey Sheds and a very professional appearance. Quite a few more visitors than before. Still the same friendly staff who are more than willing to answer any questions. My Grand-daughter aged 11 loves stroking the donkeys. I think she would do it all day if we let her. I found out today that the animal I thought was a sheep was really a goat. Lots of other 'wildlife' like chickens and their chicks running around. Had a Tea and Coffee in the sunshine. There is no charge for going round.

All the donkeys here are obviously loved and well cared for. Staff friendly and informative. Very reasonably priced drinks and snacks in the cafe and a lovely gift shop. Was a nice relaxing morning out.

Excellent work done by the volunteers, runs on charity and sponsorship so it is great to see that the donkeys are so well looked after. Love to see the donkeys, I have sponsored one myself and visit regually.
Well done to all concerned, long may it continue!

We took our grand daughter to this fabulous donkey Sanctuary because we had adopted a donkey for her and her brother and sister. (We also adopted one for her cousins and one just for us, each at £15 p.a.!) We had wanted to see first hand, just how good the care was for these rescue-donkeys, and we were NOT disappointed. They have fabulous stables and fields, good food and excellent caring staff. There is also a gift shop and tea/coffee shop.
I learnt of the sanctuary through reading the book, Pollyanne, the story of a rescued donkey who has performed in Operas on stage at Sadlers Wells. My grand daughter was thrilled with the day out, and we discovered a lovely Pub (The Red Lion) in the same village and we ate a delicious lunch. That really rounded off the trip very nicely.

The donkey sanctuary looks a bit run down from the outside - but all it contributions go to looking after the animals and from the goodwill of the people who help out. We took a 9yr old and 6yr old and they could pat the donkeys in the pens, see them in the fields, say hello to the goats, sheep and chickens. There was also a very friendly donkey who 'owned' the yard and would follow you around! The staff were friendly and there was a toilet area so that you could wash hands thoroughly after the visit. The donkey merchandise was very well priced with pencils from 40p and little tricket boxes £2 so that you could afford to give a donation and buy a little something for the kids.

Visited on way home from a holiday down South. The sanctuary was smaller than I expected, but it's free to park and free entrance. Not much to see, lots of donkeys who were keen for a stroke and a few other animals such as goats, pig etc. On the day we went all the donkeys were in concrete pens in the centre I guess they get to go out in the surrounding fields though. Small coffee shop on the site. Overall worth a visit if you're passing but you'll probably only want to spend about an hour there.

We visit this Sanctuary every month sometimes two or more times depending what fund raising event they have on. There is something on most weekends, Table Top and Jumble Sale every other Saturday, Flea Market and Collectors Fair first Sunday of month, Craft Fairs 3rd Sunday of Month. As well as numerous events throughout the summer months. You can hire a pitch at any of these events for a small fee. The Sanctuary now has 120 donkeys along with goats, pot bellied pig, geese, chickens. It is an Independant Charity run by a band of enthusiastic volunteers, who need to raise over £9000 a month to run it they appear to know all the names of each donkey. Children love it as they can stroke the animals, there is a very reasonable priced tea room, open weekends and school hols. We love it there if we are feeling stressed the donkeys make us feel so relaxed, as they are so laid back and who can blame them as they are well looked after and happy. It is well worth a visit
