About
The Bratch is the perfect spot for a family afternoon of exploring canalside history and local wildlife. Take a walk along the towpath and admire the historic bridge and pumping station, or spot the locks, originally built as a staircase! Follow the exciting bat trail, and be sure to keep an eye out for some unusual canal wildlife. If you look carefully you might even spot an otter!

Combine this with a visit to the Cafe at Wombourne Station and Baggeridge Park .
Feb 2019
It can be combined with the Station Cafe in Wombourne just up the road and then on to Baggeridge Park for a lot of varied walks or just to use the Childrens play ground . On a hot day you can get a drink [ Non-alcholic]or an ice cream . At the bootom end of the park Himley House often has art or other kinds of displays . Worth a day out .

Great spot

Great place to sit and watch the boats go by and help I’m sure is always appreciated with pushing heavy lock gates. There are three locks here which can be tricky if you’re not sure what to do but there is often a lock keeper volunteer who will always assist.

Beautiful place

We walked here from the start of Wombrook on a very hot day. We spent about 20 mins watching the barges come through the lock. There was a locks man on duty and the ace is very clean and tidy

Nice walk
Jan 2019
Took a walk in one direction then back past the locks, we turned off and joined the old railway line to complete the circuit. Lovely walk not too muddy, will go back again.

our discovery of this little gem was great it was teeming with feathered friends including a heron.the canal was comfortable to walk alongside and there is a man there who will help you well worth a walk if you can... there is a limited parking space and close by a lovely old train station cafe well worth it all round

Interesting place to visit
Sep 2018 • Family
Spent a nice morning here watching narrow boats navigate the locks both down from top to bottom and vice versa. The lock keeper was very friendly and helpful as were all the boat owners that my 10 year old questioned about the process. We had a nice walk along the canal and met up with lots of cyclists and dog walkers...this is obviously a well used part of the canal network. On the way back to the car park we got some great photos of what is apparently the resident Heron. We ended our visit with a walk to the railway cafe where they sold snacks, drinks and ice cream at reasonable prices.

Peaceful Location
Apr 2018 • Couples
When we visited sadly there were no narrow boats on the canal. The weather was grey and damp but one could imagine how interesting it would be to see the boats going through this series of locks. Beautifully constructed brickwork and walkways all around the site with ample parking nearby for 'road' visitors.

Lovely winter walk
Feb 2018 • Couples
My partner and I found this a lovely hidden gem of a walk last week. We parked on the small car park by the canal and walked toward Wolverhampton as far as smestow nature reserve, where we cut across to the railway walk for the jaunt back. It was delightful and a great walk for when the usual woods and meadows are wet and soggy - there was very little mud. Will definitely be back!!
