Beautiful Church however? Rude Vicar and Staff
Jun 2021 • Business
We came to visit this stunning church however we got speaking to the Rector of this church who asked us many personal questions and what was our reason for visiting the church. We just got the impression that because we was a gay couple they didn't like this and was pushed out the door. I have reported the matter to the Lichfield Diocese and Bishop. Shame on the Vicar and his staff... My organist friend from Malta was accused of a matter that never happened and again by the same vicar and pushed out. Our friend came the Director of music for this church but left with effect!! He's moved on to better matters and away from that prison.

Dating back to 1480 St Peter's Collegiate Church is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most beautiful landmark structures in Wolverhampton.
The Collegiate Church was pivotal in the development of Wolverhampton as this was the only church in Wolverhampton until the 18th century.
This beautiful Grade I listed building looks amazing, I couldn't gain access into the church but I was content to take some photo's of the church and wander around the beautifully well kept gardens ,there are some really nice statues and points of interest and after exploring the garden's of the church my twin brother Stephen and I visited the Lych Gate Tavern outside the church for some well earned real ale's.
A wonderful and beautiful church, most definitely well worth a visit if you're in the area or planning to visit Wolverhampton and easy to locate along Exchange Street.

Very interesting

This church is packed for of history dating all the way back to the 10th century. It is quite remarkable that they have kept all of this history safe and secure but still open to the public

Disappointed

When my husband and I went there was scaffolding inside and no atmospher at all. We attend church regularly (Roman Catholic) and were expecting more. Sts Peter and Pauls church has more 'vibes'

Historic landmark

First visit to this imposing, historic building. A chance to enjoy some peaceful reflection just a short distance from the city centre. Some major works are underway so a little difficult at the moment to enjoy the full experience.
I discovered before going that one of the signatories to the American Declaration of Independence was married in the church.

Wouldn’t go out my way to visit again
Very unfriendly people in there especially an older lady she was very abrupt
I always thought churches were welcoming and as this one is historic and the heart of wolves I would expect it to be even more welcoming to visitors from far and wide
Not a good experience

Imposing and magestic

A beautiful, large Collegiate Parish Church dating back to 1480 - lovely stained glass, classical achitecture, with large stone pillars and high vaulted ceiling, with an interesting history.

The Father Willis organ is imposing, overlooking the Nave altar and currently undergoing a £300,000 overhaul. Has one of the largest choirs in the West Midlands who sing to a very high standard.

The small anti-chapel offers peace and solitude.

Well worth a visit either just to walk around or attend a Service.

A beautiful church in the heart of Wolverhampton
Apr 2018 • Solo
St Peter's should really be a cathedral now that Wolverhampton is a city. It's a beautiful church with a real sense of peace, even where there isn't a service going on. They do choral evensong on Wednesday at 5.15.
