Live music!
Sep 2019
I visited this pub for the first time with my husband and son this evening. For a Friday night it was quiet but the atmosphere was friendly and there was a live band playing (The Voodoo Three) who made this a very enjoyable evening with their vast repertoire and entertaining banter. I am told by my husband and son that the beer is good so I would certainly go back, especially if the same trio are playing again! The loos are basic (none of your fancy decorations) but they are clean and bright, which is all I'm looking for in an old style pub.

Real ales
Mar 2018 • Couples
Ostensibly a local near Morrisons but serving a good range of real ales. Just off the centre so mainly locals but they seemed a friendly crowd and we strangers were made to feel welcome and would certainly return.

This is one of those pubs you can walk into, be very aware that the pub is filled with locals, but they are a nice bunch.
I started popping in here a year ago, when I first moved to Worthing, it had just re-opened and had some amazing cask ales on.

A year later and the drinks selection has grown and just keeps getting better, the people are lovely and if you ask nicely, you might get yourself a tasty burger (and a beer) for only £8.
I can't say what it was like before the re-open, but today it's a really nice place, with a relaxed atmosphere, with some friendly faces who don't judge you for having a bad day at work.

SKY TV!
Mar 2017 • Couples
When The Castle reopened as an Alehouse much was made of the fact that it was going to be an old style pub with good beer, conversation and no TV. So I was disappointed on my last visit to find a SKY Sports banner outside. Still a good pub but I will be avoiding when the telly is on!

Re-vitalised Pub
Dec 2016 • Friends
The Castle Alehouse has had a mixed time over the last few years. (And was formerly the Castle Tavern and before that O'Conner's and before that ...)

Probably situated in the wrong location and with constantly changing opening hours this one bar (largish) is very close to Morrison's supermarket on Newland Road.

A number of real ales and a 'reward' card for real ale drinkers.

Fairly nice place for a drink and friendly.

Worst pub in the universe!
I congratulate this pub for staying open. I assume the landlord had a lottery win because it can't be for the service.
Popped in with a group of friends for a drink. A glass of white wine served in a glass that was dirtier than the floor and tasted like it was opened at christmas last year.
Most of us left our drinks unfinished. Speaks volumes! I'd give this place zero rating if it allowed it.
