Great space great facilities
Sep 2021 • Solo
Wonderful area, great facilities, lovely to have cafe but what a shame so boring inside a few arm chairs and coffee tables or some thought into the design would make so much more inviting to want to stay, nothing to coax me to stay thus there is no atmosphere. Lovely people and service but never feel I want to sit inside. Never seems very busy, feel like there is so much more money that could be made. Also very small area outside. If this cafe was made more cosy inside I am sure loads more people would use it. Like I say staff and service no complaints. Mudford recreation is a great space for dog walking with great facilities for kids and sports activities we are lucky to have it.

Gone down hill
Feb 2020 • Family
This park used to be really nice but now it's all falling apart, they built a new pirate ship but unless you are older than 9 you won't be able to climb up as its designs terrible, the sand is so old and dirty you wouldn't want to ho bare foot, this place really need some investment, be careful in the small children area as thoer rocks are very slippery so stay clear, nice little shop but needs to build something bigger like the nine springs cafe so you can sit in chat drink coffee, so I'd say if you want fun go to nine springs by golden stones pool

Fun Crazy golf with a nice cuppa afterwards
Oct 2019 • Family
We took our two kids for a round of crazy golf and then had a cup of tea afterwards to thaw out. The golf was fun, the kids enjoyed it and the staff at the recreation centre were fun, enthusiastic and nice. Yeah, they served us two cups of tea but when they two ladies in the kiosk did it with smiles on the faces and nice chat it left us having had an even better time.

A year since our last visit
Sep 2017 • Family
A return visit on a sunny Autumn w/e .
Lots of people around enjoying various activities: athletics, football, golf, dog walking and the interesting adventure park.
My grand daughters now 4 and 6 were much more physically adept than on our previous visit a year ago and we were able to enjoy an ice cream and a coffee in the little cafe ( open at the w/e ) .
The toilets are around the corner in the same building.
There is a zip wire, several slides, swings, climbing frames, and interestingly shaped dinosaur and skull structures to climb or slide through.
There is soft sand on the ground ( and water in the summer) .
Plenty of places to sit and eat a picnic.
Well designed and creative.

Free pitch and putt and outstanding recreation center
Jul 2017 • Friends
Firstly I would like to commend the groundstaff who look after this facility as it is kept to a very high standard for a local authority that i can only imagine must be on a limited budget due to cut backs in the public sector.

The pitch and putt course was readily open and maintained to a high standard I.e short putting surfaces, striped fairways, weed free bunkers and a litter free site I assumed this was a free course as there was no signage to inform of where to pay and prices (luckily me and my friends had are own clubs) surely this should be a money generating activity as you can see time and effort goes into the maintainence.

elsewhere on the site there is a large play area that is pirate themed and a dragon slide, there is a conveniently placed café called The Galley (there was no staff present at the time despite seeming open shame as a hot drink would have been welcomed),

There is also an athletics arena that look very asterically pleasing with it's stripped central area and field markings this was being used by what i can assume is a local school at the time and was very busy.

There is also what seems to be a very new artificial grass surface that at the time of my visit was laying dormant and all locked down seems it can only be used for hockey as these where the only visible markings on the field.

Elsewhere the other areas of the facility are also kept to a very high standard from what I seen from my visit the lawns around the treeed area in the lower part near the tennis courts of the park where cut to what i can only describe as a chessboard pattern very pleasing to see on a lovely sunny morning, lots of mature trees adorn the park areas and there had been native trees planted recently.

There is also a very large grass area that is perfect for winter sports (Im guessing football and rugby are played here) seems very popular with dog walkers and runners the groundstaff where hard at work cutting the fields and seem very approachable as I had a lovely conversation with one of the Groundsman and I was astonished to learn this whole site is cared for my a team of three and they also care for other sites aswell top marks lads.

All in all a lovely park and facility well worth my trip from london to visit members of my friends and family, we have nothing like this in Richmond

Thank you for your positive comments and we are glad you enjoyed your visit. However I would like to make it clear that the Pitch and Putt is not FREE. Our current prices are £4.40 (£3.55 concession) per adult and £3.40 per junior (£2.75 concession). We also have a weekday lunchtime Tee Break offer of £2.50 between 12-2pm when we are open. We are closed on weekdays, except half terms between September and March. There is a main sign within the car park on the railings of the Pitch and Putt that directs people to the Galley, our refreshments kiosk to pay. Our policy is for members of the public to use the golf clubs provided from the Galley and low bounce balls for safety. So it looks like on this occasion you benefited from a FREE round of golf on us!

Very good
May 2017
Clean, dog friendly, cold/hot drinks and snacks available, pitch and put, places to relax in the shade, huge amounts of space for children to run around in. Honestly was so shocked with how good this rec is.
Perfect for the whole family
