Stopped in for a quick drink after a walk on edge hill. Pub has been completely renovated and is excellent. Ordered two pints, an orange juice and two bags of crisps which came to and eye watering £14.80!!!! To my mind this is ridiculously expensive and puts me off going back.

Went for Sunday dinner, with the wife, dinner came out in about 5 minutes of ordering it, plates was hot, but food was warm, when asked to heat the food more, 10 minutes later, the plates was hotter, but food was still warm, plus very expensive for puddings, the view was stunning though

Fantastic views across edge hill. Very impressive looking pub.
Some of the food was very good not much choice for vegetarian or vegans.
Very small car park which gets full easily.
Waitress seemed like she was new, ok.

Conclusion: Stunning view, go for a drink to take it all in. Don't bother with the overly priced food or poor service.
Third time I've visited the establishment in 3 months. It's location offers breathtaking panoramic views, especially at sun set. That's where the compliment stops.
Service is simply appalling, more so with each visit.
It is order and pay at the bar. The staff looked confused as I ordered an item off the starter menu, until she went and found a copy of today's menu and then decided that it was in fact something that can be ordered. None of the 3 staff members behind the bar knew what the soup of the day was, as 'it wasn't mentioned at the staff meeting this morning'.
Another member of our party was told to return in 20 minutes as the kitchen was full and there would be a 40 minute wait on food... left us clueless as to why she couldn't have ordered and joined the 40 minute wait! Plus she couldn't have her starters come before the main as the chefs prepares by the docket. Makes one question where there was a distinction of starter and main on the menu.
One of the dessert was forgotten completely, when questioned, the waiter asked what was ordered and then quickly replied that they had run out of this particular flavour of ice cream hence why it hadn't been served (but was already paid for). At no point did they approach the table to let us know!!
Another dessert where blueberries (listed as part of the actual dish) was replaced with nuts with no warning. Not so good for someone with nut allergies!

Fantastic setting over the battle plains of Edgehill, this pub offers excellent food and the great Hook Norton Brewery ales. Well worth a visit.

Unfortunately although it's a cracking venue with great ambience, we did not have a good experience at the castle.
The food on the night was not of the quality we expected and on the whole was over priced.
We ordered steak which was just so chewy, it just wasn't good, also the liver arrived almost raw, on the plus side service was good.
Would we personally return?
Probably not.

Went there for the first time with a group of friends and all of us were super impressed. The setting is great and the food and service matches this. I Han the lambs liver as a main and thought it was excellent. The fish also looks good. A special thanks to the waiter who added that extra bit of quality. Will definitely be returning.

Went for a few evening drink while on a daytime event nearby. A good selection of drinks, good bar atmosphere and good company, what more could one ask for
