We hired Comet for 2 days / 1 night just to see how we liked narrow boats - what a great experience ! Colin was most helpful in his introduction and instruction and Comet was an ideal boat to learn on - we will definitely be back for the larger boat and more nights…………. Thank you Colin

We booked an evening cruise on the canal boat Comet, 5pm till 9pm, for my daughters birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it! Nick the skipper was great sharing stories from the canal and even let us ‘drive’ the boat ! We stopped over for a drink at the Pig Place and then slowly cruised back to Twyford. The boat was clean and comfort for a party of 6 adults with toilet and facilities on board. We had music and lots of laughs! We brought our own picnic and enjoyed the experience, well recommended! Another family memory made! Thanks again !

We took Comet out for a day trip. We were a party of 6. 2 grandparents, mum and dad and 2 children. There was room for the 6 of us. We were able to cook breakfast and lunch on the 2 ring gas hob, grill and oven. There was heating which was very welcome as it was so cold outside. We had a safety briefing, and then the skipper was shown how to steer the boat and we were off. For the day trip, you go down to Aynho, through 3 locks. As there have been very few boats on the Oxford canal in the last few months, there is some silt build up at the edges of the canal, which can ground you if you are not careful, but this will improve over the next few months as traffic increases as lockdown is lifted. The locks were great fun for the children to try and open. A little help from Grandad was greatfully received. After lunch at Aynho, you have to turn around. There is a turning point which needs care to navigate, due to other boats moored up There is a pub, which can do lunches, but as we are still in lockdown, we had brought our own. Tea, coffee and sugar were provided. Arriving back at Twyford after a great day. Everything went well from arriving through to showing us where to moor up finally. We had a follow up e mail to check that everything had been satisfactory. We would definitely do this again.

We are just back from a glorious day trip on the lovely Comet. It was our first time on a narrow boat as a family and Colin was super helpful and put us at ease. The boat is great and we came back from our day trip feeling like we had been away for a week. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic time and wanted to thank the team for the preparation and instruction. The wife particularly enjoyed the tea and coffee and level of equipment inside. I didn’t see much of the inside as I was enjoying being skipper for the day. The natty blue lighting was a particular highlight, and Glennys said the heating kept her lovely and warm. The phone charger socket proved useful as well. The boat was really well equipped, very clean and quite easy to manage once I had got my hand in. The distance for our day trip was just right with a visit to the great western in Aynho a top recommendation. We hope to be back in the summer for another trip. Overall, totally recommended.
