This used to be a lovely little course when Mike Reed owned it. I worked on Banbury Business Park opposite so nine holes at lunchtime and nine after work.

I phone last weeks and was given the managers name. I wrote with no response and phone the nubber that had worked a few days before on a dead line.

Frustrated I drove over the course to find out what was wrong, empty dead unused with the clubhouse closed up and as lonely as an empty amusement park.

It was a little like attending a funeral two days after the event.

Jim has done a great job.
May 2017
Since Jim & his family have taken over Banbury Golf Club, the place has improved beyond recognition. The club has its mojo back, the course is in great condition & improving all the time.
The food is basic but well cooked & tasty, & the beer is always good

Still a work in progress but definitely getting there.
Jul 2016 • Friends
I joined this club 6 years ago & watched it steadily decline, change ownership & management, & really scrape the bottom of the barrel, & I was very close to taking my business elsewhere.

However, since Jim & his family have got involved, the improvement is remarkable, the course is in great nick, & still improving all the time. Its a good challenge for all levels of golfer, but would probably benefit from a couple of extra bunkers, or some the old ones put back in!

The locals are friendly & the food decent & reasonably priced.

All those people who gave up on this place should come & have a look, you will not be disappointed.

First time playing Footgolf!
May 2016 • Family
Ok, not a golf review but - had a great time with the children. The facilities were pretty good and you can see a lot of work going on with the course.

The Footgolf looked like a new edition, but was layed out like a mini golf course and not like a cheap adding to a golf club.

The children loved it, and a great intro into golf. Shame I lost, but I'll beat them next time.

First a couple of caveats: 1) the local I was playing with said that the course was in a very bad way a couple of years ago, and the new owners had made a real effort with it. It's clearly still work in progress, but you can tell some investment is now going in. 2) I only paid £20 for a weekend round, and saw you can get on for £15 in the week, so pretty good value winter prices.

But, the course was largely uninteresting and poorly laid out - with the exception of two good par 5s on the back nine. Some water hazards dotted around but looked a bit like they'd been carved out with a JCB. Few sand traps. Wide open fairways, basic green layouts. I played poorly, but think a reasonable player would find it no challenge.

The course condition was not acceptable. The fairways were uniform semi-rough, worse in places, with the fairway generally marked by gaps between tree lines. Greens were patchy and damaged in places.

Facilities were limited, but what there was were new and well done. Clubhouse was nice, warm and comfy. Toilets small but clean and modern. Staff were very friendly and helpful, members seemed nice.

From what I've heard the club is on a bit of a journey back from a bad place. They've clearly started to invest (eg clubhouse). I just hope they invest in a good greenkeeper next. Be interested to see what it is like in a couple of years time.

Good Afternoon, unfortunately the day you visited us the course had been cut to the level we normally have them at, purely because we couldn't cut them due to the bad weather we've had recently which everyone has been suffering from. We are actually beginning our greens work next week to fix the slight patches on some of the greens, unfortunately again this had been knocked back by the bad weather so is later than planned. All i would say is don't leave it a couple of years before coming back, come back and visit us in the height of summer to see our true potential Many thanks Eric

We recently have held our annual golfing charity event here with 38 golfers of all abilities.
The breakfast, golf and service was excellent and we felt very welcome.
Thank you to the team at Banbury Golf Club.

Unkept

Recent round with 3 friends [first time for me] and found the course fairly difficult. All found the fairways difficult as grass far to long.No balls traveled due to this and the greens need rolling as putting was a lottery.Ball jumped all over the place on most.We all lost balls as most fairways narrow with deep long grass bordering. Disappointing really as could be an interesting course

New Management team has made the difference
Apr 2015 • Friends
You really must give this golf club a go. It has risen from the ashes from being very poor to very good due to a new management team - The Faiways and greens are well kept and the clubhouse staff and menbers are friendly and welcoming. Try the food in the cluhouse too, you won't be dissappointed.
