Adequate facilities

We booked a special offer top to toe experience in August. It entailed use of the spa facilities and an hour with a therapist, mini massage, facial and either a leg or arm massage. The spa facilities there is a swimming pool which is the same depth all the way across, which had 2 lanes and the rest for anybody. There is a jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna. Not huge facilities and i did see a small gym. There are treatment rooms and a relaxing area on warm stone loungers. The changing facilities looked dated and in need of a re-vamp, some shelves broken etc. It is £6 to pay for hire of a towel & robe, they also give you flip flops & a bag which you get to keep. The locker system works well. There are 3 loungers in the pool area. Nice for day if you want treatments and to relax, not an all day spa day it is not big enough. There is a cafe as well serving food & drinks.

Good massage, facilities lacking and dated, not luxury spa day worthy
Sep 2021
The spa experience all felt a bit rushed, I wouldn't recommend this for a relaxing spa day as the spa is rather an 'add -on' rather than a leading facility here. It was unclear if we could use the pool, and the lounge is also a communal area for non-spa guests. Would recommend for a quick treatment as the massage I had was really good so if you aren't fussed about the rest of the experience then its appropriate. For a luxury day for 2, for example, i'd recommend going elsewhere.

Bad, uncomfortable, waste of my hard earned money

Some of the Reception staff need training 1 in particular was VERY unhelpful, myself and daughter booked a spa afternoon, this was our first visit which I explained to the receptionist, within the package we were supposed to be offered 20% off food & drink, the only food there was was cake and the coffee machine was broken. We were not shown round or offered towels/gowns or anything, when i asked the receptionist about towels i was told I could hire 1 for £6 ! There were other issues which made our visit uncomfortable and could not wait to get out of the place as I felt very uncomfortable, would not recommend anyone wasting their money at this place

Terrible experience.

I arrived on Monday for my first visit at the spa at 16.10 which was 15 minutes earlier than my appointment which is what I was asked to do and waited at the reception desk. There was a staff member at the manicure desk with a customer and another staff member hovering round the pedicure chair. Both these were close to reception desk. No greeting when I arrived and I stood around waiting for someone to come and greet me. Nobody approached me. A client arrived and went down to the relaxation room so I followed her. As I was laid relaxing her phone rang loudly and I had to listen to a long, loud and confidential call. At 16.42 I was still laid waiting and had not seen a member of staff so I returned to the desk and asked the nail technician what was happening. My therapist then arrived and apologised stating she had to change rooms. During my massage someone entered the room! This was far from the relaxing massage I had been looking forward to. I asked to see the manager on leaving and he had already left so I left my telephone number and was assured he would call me Tuesday. It is now Friday and nobody has bothered to call me. The worst, most unrelaxing spa I have visited. Not recommended for spa day customers. Customer service non existent.

Ok so I’m going to sound like a Karen here..but it was the worst massage of my life. I don’t know whether to laugh or be angry to be honest. My friend booked this for my 30th treat and I was so looking forward to it, my back kills and I needed a massage. To say I nearly told her to stop mid way through seems extreme but it was making me angry. I felt more anxious after it had ended. I felt like someone was trying to brush a bee off my back which in all honestly was annoying more then anything. I don’t even feel bad for being honest on this occasion but it didn’t even give me the greatest of confidence in even believing she was qualified. I Don’t recommended, which is a shame because last time I came it was great.
Also if you book the “spa day” with treatments and “relaxation room” don’t expect the facilities of the pool. 4/10 and that’s only because I was with my best friend.

Had my treatments by Sara who’s absolutely brilliant! Will definitely be returning. The whole process from booking to checking in was easy. Well done, Bannatyne’s!

Not a great experience

The staff need to be more attentive. Half of them didn't know what they were doing. Let another customer interrupt us and no apology. No mention that we needed to bring towels and no offer of one.
Dirty around spa pool, chairs and other items piled into sauna and steam room, (due to covid) just untidy and felt unorganised. Wasn't clear when to wear mask and when not.
Lunch was extremely poor.
Treatments were good.
Masses of cobwebs in relaxation room!!!
This was not a cheap spa day and I don't feel that it lived up to the value at all. We won't be returning.

Lovely spa day with my friend. Enjoyed the massage and was fairly quiet which was lovely.
Had a nice smoothie and jacket potato. It’s £6 to hire the robes and towels/flip flops but u get to keep the bag and flip flops.
Sauna was lovely as was steam room.
The jacuzzi is big enough for at least 8 people with out touching feet or people.

Peaceful spa experience is NOT how I would describe Banbury’s Bannatyne Spa. There were indeed lots of lovely regular members joining in the activities and using the facilities but this overcrowded the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. One lady member was not so lovely and seemed to take great pleasure in saying “It’s so crowded because you spa people use up our space!” There were 4 ‘spa people’ only at the time. At lunch (we were in our spa robes) most other people in the restaurant were fully clothed and it felt (please forgive me for saying this but it’s true), a bit like the lounge of a retirement home.

After a lovely massage and facial (hence 2 stars) we were asked to take advantage of the hot beds but sadly there were none free and people waiting for treatments were using them rather than the reception area. We just gave up. It was over all crowded, noisy and we could not relax so we left. They were short staffed and we spent 30 minutes getting seen to on arrival. The towels we paid to use had holes in. The mashed potato with our sausages was instant mash 🤢 (Smash not mash). I’m not generally a grumpy person...v patient actually, but I did get a bit grumpy after this as I really needed this much anticipated spa day. Not for me thank you 🤷‍♀️
