I love a museum. It's always the highlight of my trip. But this was a disappointment. Granted most of the exhibits were closed, those that were open I found were lacking information and we're not well displayed.

the first thing that took my interest was a Norton police motorcycle not something you would expect but to me it was great ,there is lot of things over two floors to interest everyone this is a place to return to

Although we were only able to see part of the museum due to upcoming renovations, we really enjoyed what we did see. Very interesting.

Mainly landscape art. Some of the museum is closed for reservation but the man in the museum was very friendly and helpful and took the time to tell us all about the plans for the museum's renovation. Sounds like it will be much better next year.

We were in Buxton for 2 nights to see a show at the opera house (really good) and visited the museum during the day. The museum is undergoing major restoration at the moment which somewhat limited the items of interest. None the less an enthusiastic member of staff engaged us to fill the time.

At the moment, until spring 2017, the museum is under 'construction', which makes the visit a bit short and all you can really see is an interesting upstairs room on local history. However, the downstairs exhibition is stunning! The artwork is very atmospheric and I would recommend. Also, it's free so you may as well have a look.

I suspect this could be so much better but given the ridiculous notion of austerity that will not be forthcoming until we get an intelligent Chancellor. The most interesting things were the comments of schoolchildren concerning the museum and art gallery and I echo their sentiments: Keep The Bear!

Although I may be biased as I live in the town, this is a gem of a museum and gallery. The static exhibits are mainly about the geology, archeology and history of the Peak District and the area but there is a changing programme of other displays. The gallery exhibits contemporary art and photography with specialist themes to works from... More

Great museum and gallery. Friendly, informative staff, talking with visitors, giving a great interactive experience. This is how museums should be, certainly not dumbed down, but accessible.
