...........................................................................

........................................................................ Bookstore Brierlow Bar is one of the country's largest independent bookshops, offering incredible breadth and depth of titles and subject areas, for both general and specialist booklovers. Knowledgeable, friendly staff are on hand at all times, in a spacious, relaxing atmosphere in which you can browse at leisure. ***New Coffee Bar*** We are very excited to announce that Bookstore Brierlow Coffee Bar is now open for business! Come and join us for a freshly ground coffee (we are proud to serve Fair Trade), or sample one of our Gold Award winning, loose leaf Novus teas. We have scrumptious sweet treats made by the wonderful Bridge Bakehouse too. And this is just the beginning! Over the coming months, we hope to expand our little seating area and serve light lunches such as salads, sandwiches, soups and paninis. Do come and see us soon! Bookstore Brierlow Bar boasts a large, free car park with picnic tables, and the rivers Dove and Manifold are just a short distance away. We also welcome coaches and appointments are not always necessary.

We have frequently visited this book shop and rarely leave without buying several books as they are such good value and there is such a variety. The children's section is always a delight and many presents have been purchased here

This was our first visit, we had seen a leaflet in our local Tourist Info Shop and decide to take a trip over the hills to there. The drive over the hills is lovely on a good day. In the shop the staff were lovely and very helpful, I must have spent over 30mins in the children's room which was... More

Hubby and I often visit this book store. The choice of books are very good and there is an excellent stock of beautiful cards especially the Bug Art collection. We have yet to visit the cafe. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

A relaxing unhurried experience. Parking can be an issue at times but for any book lover it's heaven. Stock arranged methodically and decent walk ways. This is not one of those second-hand bookstores where everything is crammed in to a series of small room. This is spacious and light. Be warned...... it's difficult to walk out with just a single... Sorry about the parking problems. Not sure if it was the rough surface from the wet winter or a space issue.....there is a big area round the back past the picnic area which is available if the main area is full. 'Relaxing and unhurried' is a lovely thing to say. Thank you very much. that is the atmosphere we want... More

We came across this bookshop after visiting Buxton. I love books, so we pulled in. It looked large from the roadside. Large car park was great. Inside, it is crammed full of books, nice areas of books on display. The Art, craft, architecture and gardening section have a very good choice. There are bargains to be had. But,still some books... This looks very large from the road so thought worth a visit .nothing special ,very well laid out but Waterstones have a better range ,and the works are a lot cheaper ..didn't use the cafe on this visit

Sorry you didn't enjoy your visit. Our stock is low at the moment because we have had our annual stock take this month. The stock is now coming in for the 2017 season. Regarding the range of books, we sell mainly remaindered items which means we haven't got the new releases you would find in places like Waterstones. New books... More

If you love books and a bargain then this is the place for you! Discount prices covering a wide range of subjects both fact and fiction. New comfortable coffee area serves good coffee - understand they are having a new kitchen installed and will then be serving food too. Plenty of free parking.

The store is a bit like the Tardis, being larger inside than one expects looking from the outside. The store is jam-packed full of books with a great range of reading for everyone. The most impressive thing is the cut prices, and if you want a break from it all (looking at books that is), there is a cafe. We... More
