Well it's a year since we were last at Buxton Opera House; Vampires Rock this time. Parking is finite so leave with plenty of time. There are pubs and restaurants all around but we chose the Opera House bar and drank coffee. Very nice and reasonable at £1.50 a cup. Like last time we are in the stalls but way... More

booking is straight forward, friendly staff eager to help, the building itself is lovely, one of the best I've been to, would highly recommend catching a show here.

The Opera House has such an extensive programme with events most days. Sadly not many operas these days but more than most towns. We came to Buxton to see Aida and must say we much preferred this production by Ellen Terry to the production we saw last year in Verona's Roman Amphitheatre. The soloists were outstanding and the sets very... More

This was a last minute decision. I am so glad we decided to travel the 22 miles to watch 7 o clock, it was fab! The theatre is a must, it's beautiful. The acting was brilliant and we left with a feel good factor.

I only heard of this wonderful building because of Portillo's railway journey program. So, as much to see the building as anything, we booked to see the production of Aida here and both the production and the building were first class. It may not suit the purist but because I'm not an opera buff I appreciated the subtitles which enabled... More
