We went on one of the tours and thoroughly enjoyed the hour and a half. Welcomed with coffee and biscuits then about 20 of us were given an extensive tour, (even into the loos!) by our informative guide - the only small reservation we had was that he was quite quietly spoken and my husband had forgotten his hearing aid!... We went to see John Lodge from the Moody Blues. Seats in the Grand Circle. Good view of the performance. Acoustics very good too. Fabulous architecture.

Came to see the Halle Orchestra play a charity concert and we where not disappointed. Great venue , right in centre of town and walking distance to plenty of great restaurants and bars. The sound was very good , staff friendly and helpful

The Opera House is one of Frank Matchems and was built at the beginning of the 20th Century in the last of the Victorian/Edwardian grandeur. Inside is a compact and yet airy Theatre with gold leaf decorations adorning the interior. The shows give great variety, varying from kids shows, talks, pantomimes, gigs and opera etc. During the Buxton Festivals it... More

Excellent facilities in an historic venue. Staff are polite, attentive and helpful. Reasonably priced tickets and bar was also inexpensive. Beautiful park next to venue for a pleasant stroll after the show or before it. Will go again.

What a brilliant show in such an iconic theatre. Every year he does his tour and this year we spent must be over 4 hours watching it in such a splendid venue. The theatre itself is a time warp with the added benefit that at the breaks you can wander out to the pub opposite for a drink - a... More

This theatre is on the same lines at Theatre Royal in Nottingham but it was a shame that it was not busier on a Saturday night. Seats were comfy, tickets were reasonably priced and the bar was inexpensive too. There's a lovely park just outside for a walk and the shop and tourist information were well stocked and informative.
