The globe was filled with friendly staff which swiftly took our order at the bar area. We were the only group there on Sunday and we wondered why as the space was so beautiful and unique. There was a wait on food even for side dishes such as salads, yet we agreed to the wait even if other members of our group didn’t. However when our meals came we discovered it wasn’t even Quality food just frozen food. Tasted ok but not worth £13.50 for bean burger from Tesco that was other cooked.

Poor Experience - Won't Come Back
Jul 2021
Haven't eaten at the Globe - the waiting staff were very friendly so we ordered food and drinks. Drinks arrived promptly but the Coke was flat. Waitress exchanged it and apologised however, it took about 40 minutes for the food to arrive. The courses we ordered were £12.50 each - not a small sum of money, and for that my husband had a bean burger with a child's portion of oven chips, a dessert spoon of ready made coleslaw and a dessert spoon of tartare sauce. I had a chicken Caesar salad and the chicken was tough and chewy, but worse than that, the salad was obviously well past its sell-by date as some bits were going rotten and yellow. I picked them out to show the waiting staff. If we hadn't been so hungry and hadn't waited so long for some food we would have left, but we had to pay before the food arrived so we were caught in a cleft stick. When the waiter came to clear the dishes he asked if everything was ok and I said actually, no, and explained the problems. He was a bit embarrassed and agreed that the rotten salad bits were not good and offered us a pudding or drink on the house as compensation but we were on our way so we declined. I feel that the waiting staff have been put at the front end of dealing with a situation which is caused by the cooking staff not caring about what they are preparing. Frankly, if they expect people to pay those sorts of prices they need to up their game very considerably. Needless to say we won't be returning.

Gorgeous lunch
Oct 2020 • Family
We popped in for a lunch, 2 couples with their babies. The amount of thought that had gone into making everything covid safe was evident. Every detail was thought out, with hand sanitising stations around the building, a successful one way system and staff that keep their masks on at all times. Gorgeous setting, great styling. We had lunch, all ordering the chicken burgers. All enjoyed and great coffees at the end.

Will definitely be back. Hopefully on a warm day so we can make full use of the fantastic garden and pagoda.

Lovely food for sharing and good service. Loved it. Lovely place, we had about 8 of the dishes and each was lovely. The young waitress was attentive and we enjoyed our time here

What a night!!!!
Mar 2019 • Couples
Stopped off here for a drink in their massive beer garden as it was a gloriously sunny day. We had no idea what we were going to do on our one night in Hay until we saw a Northern Soul and Ska poster on the wall.....sorted!! Brilliant DJ (Paul Nevin?) playing top tunes and everyone up dancing from late teens to pensioners. Really reminded me of my school discos with seats all around the edge of the dancefloor but, after a few drinks no one was sitting down!! I haven't seen so many people happy in one place in a long time. No trouble just people enjoying the music and having fun. Absolutely top class, THANKS you made an old mod very happy.

Fantastic
Aug 2017 • Family
Having been to Hay several times before and never made it into the Globe, we went in 4 times in 3 days this time, stopping off for drinks in the afternoon either in the lovely garden or main bar, then went in for a pot of tea one morning whilst our two boys got into the Lego club that is hosted every Sunday (Lego provided!). We will definitely be back

Great little place!
Jul 2017
Lovely quirky interior, friendly, helpful staff and divine food! I am gluten and dairy intolerant and there was nothing on the menu that was gluten and dairy free, but this was no problem for them. The fab chef adapted the food to fit my requirements with ease and delivered a delicious plate of homemade fare. The music and ambience was peaceful, the seating comfortable and the temperature was perfect - a nice reprieve from the sun on a hot day! It's a shame we aren't going to be around long enough to enjoy some of the many events, art and entertainment that this place has going on. I would love a place like this to go to in my home town.

Great Wedding Venue
Jul 2016 • Couples
If you are looking for a wedding venue that is a little different in a beautiful setting this could be the one for you. The old Methodist church was perfect for our intimate wedding. The quirky style of the venue added to look of the day and worked perfectly for us. Elle was absolutely fantastic, extremely supportive and just genuinely lovely! Hay on Wye was a great location as everything is within a short walking distance with some beautiful places for photos such as the venue itself (fantastic light in the afternoon), indie bookshops, Hay Castle, around the Wye and other unexpected charming spots. The catering at The Globe was amazing - the food was fresh, tasty and looked fantastic. We are so happy we chose The Globe for our big day. Fab burgers
Sep 2016 • Couples
We stopped for dinner mainly due to their Thursday night offer of 2 burgers for £12. We were not disappointed! The burgers were great, big and meaty with loads of taste. The accompaniments were delicious, I particularly liked the salad and the homemade slaw was fantastic. In short great burgers are good enough to rival any gourmet shop and half the price. My husband took some persuading to come here because he loves his gourmet burgers and has his favourite restaurants which he frequents regularly. However he loved the burgers at the Globe so this is bound to become a regular occurrence.

The Globe itself is a great venue in a converted chapel. It has an eclectic mix of furniture and furnishings which adds to the charm. There is plenty of seating over 2 floors and it is very child and dog friendly. Outside there is a huge garden where it is lovely to while away a few hours in the sunshine. There is also free wifi. They have a limited menu but what they serve is excellent. For breakfast or brunch I can highly recommend the eggs benedict. They also do a great range of delicious homemade cakes and great coffee. Simply the best place to sit and chill in Hay!
