Wonderfully restored castle which is the ancestral home of the Egans. Coleesa was a excellent guide and fountain of knowledge about the castle and surrounding areas.

We happened to see signs for this castle along the road and decided to pay a visit the following day.colessa the present owner tour exceeded all our expectations and she really involved our young children in the history of a Norman castle. The castle is a hidden gem in North tipperary and renovated to a very high standard. Well worth a visit.

We actually visited the castle a few years ago when we were in Ireland. I am a member of the Egan Clan as my mother was an Egan and I wanted to see the family castle. It is off the beaten path to say the least, but we’ll worth the jaunt as the place reeks of history. It is very well preserved and you will have a memorable visit.

Redwood Castle wasn't open to the Public on the day I went so I could only take pictures from the street. Almost bought the house next door that was for sale at the time. I found it accidentally as it wasn't listed in the castle lists I was using during my castle hunt tour through Ireland.

On a trip to Ireland with a friend, we visited Redwood Castle which is the home of Coleesa Egan, a distant relative. The castle has been the home of a branch of the family for several hundred years. Coleesa was a lovely hostess and gave us a tour of the castle along with tea and fruit buns. The visit was special to me because of the family connection. But I think anyone would be fascinated.

I attended the heritage evening last night at the castle. There was fencing, a tour of the castle and an amazing spread of cakes, tea, coffee, juice etc at the end in the main room with the fire going. The hosts were very friendly and the history of the castle is quite interesting. It was a fun evening especially for the kids.I recommend for next year.

Decided to visit this castle today, we joined a tour which was about to start with Colessa. She provided a very warm welcome to her castle and gave us a fascinating tour of the castle which has been restored by her father and herself. The tour and the castle exceeded all my expectation! One of the best irish castle tour I have been on to date! Definitely worth a visit!

Played in the Castle and around it when I was a young boy great memory's. When we played in it the grass was growing on the roof. Big change when I visited a few years back very nice well worth a visit.

Michael Kennedy.

My husband and visited here on a Sunday afternoon, we arrived at the castle to find ourselves the only visitors. There was a hand bell standing in the open doorway atop a note with, Please ring for attention, on it. We rang the bell, and after a cheerful voice called I'm on my way, the owner Colessa Egan duly arrived and warmly greeted us. Colessa is a mindful of information and fascinating to listen to. We were treated to a tour which lasted an hour and a half. The castle has a long and varied history and Colessa's father restored this hidden treasure faithful to its original design and architecture. The tour covered so much history from the 12th century through to the 16th century to the present day, all delivered in a very informal and interesting way. This site is a must see if in the area. A very enjoyable, interesting and enlightening experience. This castle is a gem and Colessa is also.

Being with a paranormal research group i regularly get the chance to travel to various Castles and many historic buildings. We have been to much more well known castles in Ireland and in all honesty i had never heard of this castle until a few weeks be four are investigation but it turned out to be one of the best. Its huge and when on the battlements you can see county Offaly,Galway and Tipperary. Its only open to the public for a short time each year so check in advance of trip but is very cheap to go in. The owner is lovely and is really knew the history of the building and is a family member of the original family. Must see if you are in the area
