The staff are very willing to help visitors and are happy to sit down with you to point out the many species of birds. The hides have ample telescopes all of which were trained onto the Osprey nesting site where we could see the Ospreys and their fledglings.

We visited Loch of the Lowes in hope of seeing some Osprey, and we certainly did. Although you have to pay to get in its so worth it. There are three hives right by the visitors centre and they are fully equipped with binoculars. One hive has a telescope and a live feed from a webcam watching the Ospreys nest.... More

I stayed in the area specially to come here, and wished I could stay longer! The hides are great for watching the wildlife, especially the ospreys, with the chicks just starting to fly at the time. In the main Centre, I also saw a cute red squirrel on the nut feeder, much to the delight of some children there. Being... More

Have been coming here for a couple of years. Fantastic place to spend a few hours. Am fascinated by the Ospreys and have been keeping up-to-date via the webcam and blogs between visits. Staff are very helpful and always enthusiastic about the wildlife around them! Great view of the Ospreys from the hides with binoculars and telescopes provided. Fantastic place... More

Speaking as a non-member of the twitching fraternity, I found sitting at the big viewing window in the Visitor Centre and being able to watch close up a wide variety of birds come down to feed on the numerous feeders and pecking around underneath absolutely fascinating. An added bonus was witnessing a red squirrel helping himself to nuts from the... More

The centre benefits from being staffed with very knowledgeable people. It has a small shop with a fantastic viewing area of a feeding centre that attracts the local wild-life. It would be easy to sit for a while just taking in the view before you. There is a short path through the woodland to the hide which is large enough... More

Thanks very much for your feedback. For anyone looking for a longer walk there is also a woodland trail from the main car park which takes you through the woods beside the loch for about half a mile. At the far end of the path is a viewing screen which gives you a view back across the loch. From here... More

This came up in Tripadvisor under dog friendly, but due to the Ospreys and other wildlife dogs are not allowed into the visitor centre. As I had my dog with me, I could not enter so I cannot write a review. However I can say it is situated in stunning countryside and whilst walking nearby, I spotted a Roe Deer... More

Visitors are welcome to walk their dogs along our woodland trail, provided that they are kept under control. Whilst it isn't possible for visitors to bring their dogs into the visitor centre or hides (with the exception of guide dogs), we provide drinking water for dogs outside of the centre. More

Great views of ospreys but stay a while. Also saw red squirrels and pheasants on the way to visitor centre. Staff are friendly and informative. A cafe would be a great asset!!

Thanks very much for your feedback - i'm glad you enjoyed your visit. Unfortunately, although we would like to have a cafe there isn't space within the existing building and we are unable to expand the visitor facilities due to being within a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). More

The visitor center at Dunkeld is my favorite outdoor visit. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We follow the Ospreys on the webcam but were disappointed that this year's brood would not have satellite tracking because of lack of funds. Surely the SNP could afford the small expense to tag the three chicks on their migration to Senegal.

Thanks for your feedback. Whilst we won't be able to follow this year's chicks on their migration, we can at least hope that they may be spotted elsewhere in the years to come from their identifying leg rings. More
