Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve covers 98 hectares near Dunkeld. From early April to late August, the star attraction is a pair of breeding ospreys, which nest just 150 metres from our observation hide. Interactive displays help bring the story of Loch of the Lowes to life. Get closer to the ospreys with binoculars, telescopes and live video footage. Spot red squirrels, woodpeckers and other woodland birds from viewing windows. Our gift shop offers a range of wildlife-related gifts and souvenirs. Hot and cold drinks and light refreshments are available.

Spent a delightful time here today watching osprey and chatting to friendly informative staff. Hides are close and staffed with plentiful equipment to observe the wildlife. We'll worth a visit or two or three. ..

Only got "hooked" watching Ospreys last year - have really been looking forward to visiting. Absolutely loved today! Only minor disappointment was not seeing red squirrel(s) - hope to rectify this next year + will also walk from Dunkeld. Staff very friendly and informative. Take packed lunch/picnic.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and thanks for the comments. Fingers crossed you'll see red squirrels next time. The walk from Dunkeld is well signposted and easy to follow. You can pick up a walks leaflet detailing a number of walking trails in the local area from the visitor centre. More

The staff are very willing to help visitors and are happy to sit down with you to point out the many species of birds. The hides have ample telescopes all of which were trained onto the Osprey nesting site where we could see the Ospreys and their fledglings.

We visited Loch of the Lowes in hope of seeing some Osprey, and we certainly did. Although you have to pay to get in its so worth it. There are three hives right by the visitors centre and they are fully equipped with binoculars. One hive has a telescope and a live feed from a webcam watching the Ospreys nest.... More

I stayed in the area specially to come here, and wished I could stay longer! The hides are great for watching the wildlife, especially the ospreys, with the chicks just starting to fly at the time. In the main Centre, I also saw a cute red squirrel on the nut feeder, much to the delight of some children there. Being... More
