Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve covers 98 hectares near Dunkeld. From early April to late August, the star attraction is a pair of breeding ospreys, which nest just 150 metres from our observation hide. Interactive displays help bring the story of Loch of the Lowes to life. Get closer to the ospreys with binoculars, telescopes and live video footage. Spot red squirrels, woodpeckers and other woodland birds from viewing windows. Our gift shop offers a range of wildlife-related gifts and souvenirs. Hot and cold drinks and light refreshments are available.

a small visitor centre on the edge of the loch of Lowes ....with 3 hides and an indoor bird watching area it was an interesting visit .... sadly we had missed the Osprey as they had flown the nest which was visible from all 3 hides .... there is also a woodland walk on the edge of the centre

Visited here to see the birfdlife and particularly the red squirrel. Unfortunately, as the weather was good and mild the squirrels were not yet visiting. Not many birds to see. Free to use telescope, good bird feeding area

Thanks for the feedback. With the temperatures having dropped a bit, squirrel activity has picked up again at the feeding station, and the number of birds has also increased so now is a great time of year to visit. More

A nice place for seeing wildlife close up, it has a large picture like window, with bird and squirrel feeders outside. Ospreys are there during the summer months. The hides close to the loch has good views straight on to the next with binoculars. Toilets available but no refreshments. Small car park, an easy walk from the village if you... More

GGood place for a picnic and a spot of casual bird watching. There telescopes in the hides and and observation window for the bird stations and the squirrels. It was the wrong time of the year for ospreys.

A great place to view Ospreys in flight and on the nest, as well as seeing other birds and red squirrels. Can go as many times as you wish with SWT membership, or pay a small fee for entry. Volunteers in the hides and visitor centre are full of useful information, making the visit a rich experience. Love this place... More

Thanks very much for your comments. It's well worth regular visitors considering joining the Scottish Wildlife Trust as it provides a number of benefits beyond free entry and supports the important conservation work which we carry out as an organisation. More

There are 3 hides, one up high, all with super strong binoculars. It was fantastic to see the osprey but also it was so peaceful overlooking the lake that I could have stayed there for hours. There are other water birds to see and a chart on the wall to help with identification. You do need to be quiet though, so not... More

Thanks very much for your comments. We recognise that it is difficult to expect very young children to stay quiet in a hide, which is partly why we created 'duckling den' to give them the opportunity to experience what it is like being in a hide but in a less sensitive area. More

We are not exactly specialist in observing wildlife but the place is so well set up that you get a proper introduction to it plus have the chance to observe Ospreys in the wild and such a great view of the lake. Worth the detour

If you love wildlife, especially Ospreys this is a must place to visit. Visitor centre and hides are close to the car park. Friendly and helpful staff in both the visitor centre and the hides. The Ospreys are a delight to watch, other wildlife i have seen, red squirrels, water birds, numerous woodland birds on feeders. I just think this... More
