On revisiting this fine bridge we walked from the high street down the left hand side of the bridge and through the first arch .I have visited it many times but had not noticed the blue plaque indicating that the Bridge had been built on top of the existing Jail which was continued in use after it was built . You can see barred windows in the structure .Seemingly it was not the first bridge to incorporate a prison in the foundations .It could be a tourist attraction if it was opened at certain times of the year. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of the barred windows but will add them next time I visit Dunkeld

This bridge is very good with a jail underneath it! The views are nice and I saw a kingfisher next to it.

Another sturdy stalwart Scottish bridge that crosses the Tay, and remarkably over 200 years after it's construction, it continues to carry a never-ending flow of traffic in and out of the town. The bridge ( designed by Thomas Telford) is 685 feet long and has 7 spans, and was originally a toll bridge to try and recoup costs. You can get a lovely viewpoint of the bridge in it's entirety from the cathedral woodlands.

It’s a bridge, but a bridge with a stunning view, and history. Pop into the pub next to it and enjoy the view of the river, 2 stunning walks around the bridge, highly recommended

This beautiful bridge spans the River Tay at Dunkeld Designed by the Thomas Telford and built by the John The 4th Duke of Atholl in 1804-1809 replacing ferries Great views of the river from both sides of the bridge ,be careful as the pavement on the South side is narrower than the North side and it is an extremely busy bridge leading directly into Dunkeld High Street

A bridge designed by the famous engineer.
Lovely area to walk round.
Plenty of walks on both sides of the bridge.
Spot the deer and the red squirrels.check out the design of the bridge while you have a beer and lunch at the Atholl Arms beer garden.
