A beautiful historic building set in lovely garden. The museum tells the story of Dunoon's changes from neolithic times to modern day in an interesting display of exhibits. There is also a nice gift shop. Towards the end of the visit is a fun quiz.

We had a wonderful festive time at the Victorian Christmas event. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Our son was dressed as Santa and he got to meet the Victorian Santa in his beautiful green outfit. There was lots to do like making Christmas crafts , the robin trail etc. I absolutely loved the Christmas carols that we sang. It took me back to the days where you could go round doors and sing carols. And to top it off we won lots of things at the tombola and enjoyed a nice hot chocolate!

We are already planning our trip back in Easter and bringing my mother in law with us.

Thank you for being so kind and friendly. Everyone in Dunoon seems to be friendly. Highly recommend going here !

I received a warm welcome and when the gentleman working there found out I was in Dunoon to write about the pier for my blog, he gave me lots of useful and interesting information. He clearly knows his local history inside out and was very enthusiastic about it. He was very helpful and informative. It's a nice museum with displays about the Inverclyde ferries and Victorian room displays.

Thank you very much for such a kind review. It is appreciated. I have drawn it to the attention of the two young ladies who also work here just to annoy them! It was a pleasure to help you and I trust that your project goes well.

What an interesting small museum with lots of displays, artifacts from Victorian times thru to today, together with static and interactive models. There is an area set aside, with seating, for a short film on the life in Dunoon - great.
It is on the first floor but there is a lift for those who can't manage the stairs. Inside there are two more steps onto a second level.
John the curator was a lovely man who is a fountain of knowledge. He helped us to find the street where he'd found our ancestors had lived in the 1860's. Amazing
Set in lovely grounds overlooking the victorian pier with great viewsof the firth of Clyde.

Spent a couple of hours at the Museum on Thursday afternoon with my 12 year old Son. Beautiful building and gardens and fantastic views. The Museum is well looked after and the space is utilised well with the models and displays and information. Interesting learning about Dunoon and watching the slide show of past and present. The staff were so welcoming and informative and John even announced to us when the Waverly was coming in so that we could watch from the Castle House window and take photos. John spent time with us talking to my Son to and is a great asset at the Museum for visitors who are interested in learning and knowing more about Dunoon. The Museum is clean and well kept and the toilet was immaculate and well stocked with tissue, wipes and paper towels. Lovely place to visit and great staff we will be back.

I used to live in this area so it was very interesting to find out more about the area than I'd previously known. There is a variety of exhibits, Victorian rooms, war memorabilia, nature, , and I even found a school photo of my daughter. There are wonderful views from the viewpoint in the Castle grounds and from the statue of Highland Mary.

This little Museum was filled to capacity with interesting and nostalgic information and displays.
You get a warm welcome, and for £2 per adult, entrance fee, it was well worth the visit.
