Very disappointed with The Warren at Folkestone, we stayed at the nearby campsite and walked our dog through the warren daily. However we were disappointed at how dirty the area was especially when it’s meant to be a haven for wildlife. The amount of dogs mess laying about was just unreal. People visiting obviously didn’t respect it which is really sad!

We walked The Warren from the Morello towers, through the scrubland that separates the sea from the chalk cliffs. Shame the path is so overgrown, as there are no views out to sea until you reach the rail-bridge, which is nearly at the train tunnel. From there you walk back along the shoreline, watching the shipping do it’s thing in the channel. About 5 miles circular, all in all.

The Warren is wild and abandoned, it's great if you want a long walk on solid ground surrounded by coastal features. This area is constantly battered by the sea and there are many examples of coastal erosion making it a bit different from the commercialised coastline elsewhere in South Kent.

The East Cliff and Warren are a vast area that you can spend hours exploring. You can opt for a pleasant stroll along the cliff tops, where there is also a small children's play area, tennis courts and pitch and putt golf, or venture down into the Warren itself where you can walk for a considerable distance along the promenade next to the beach or explore the wilder areas. It's a beautiful place and a real asset to Folkestone.

I used to visit the Warren in my childhood and loved the rock pools and the fossil hunting I did there. Today I decided to take my 6 and 3 year old sons to visit and just found the place littered with dog poo along the paths, and found myself and the boys playing dodgems all the way back to the car park. I know this is probably caused by only a few lazy dog owners but it is disgusting and Shepway Council and the White Cliffs Country Parks need to police this as it is destroying a lovely place which should be putting Folkestone on the map. It has so much potential but it is being ruined by a minority which could be used by so many.

If ever I hear the phrase, "The Great Out-doors", I always think of The Warren. It's a hike to get to.There isn't an easy way to get there either. You just follow the many paths to the bottom of the cliff. You are rewarded at the beach with an explorers dream! Children love it, rocks, pebbles, seaweed, fossils, rock-pools, its great. Its rugged & its wild. There aren't any shops, cafes or ice-cream kiosks. Its just nature at its best!
Just one tip? Try to go on low-tide. More to explore!

The East Cliff & Warren Country Park is a wonderful place to discover the wildlife of the white cliffs of the Heritage Coast.

It is of national importance for wildlife and for the importance of its geology, and is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Part of the site has been declared a Country Park and Local Nature Reserve.

It is formed from a series of landslips that have taken place over the last 200 years or so.

The view is breathtaking. You should walk along the sea and then come back by the top of the cliff. There is a small café at the top. I have been twice so far and when the weather is sunny you feel more like in the French Rivier and want to jump in that crystal blue water. Great for dog lovers btw.

We have bend staying in Deal and we're looking for a something to do in a neighboring town that didn't involve a castle yet entertained our kids. We found it in Folkestone based on the recommendations we read here. The East Cliffs were beautiful and there was a wonderful sandy beach enjoyed by all. The bonus was the Pitch and Put course, for 3£ per person we all enjoyed 18 holes of fun overlooking the English Channel. Wonderful day"

Amazing beauty, we walked through the woods with lots of trees to hug and touch, loads of plants and toad stools.
I would love to go back in the spring time to see the difference maybe see bluebells?
After walking through the woods we came out and what a surprise! Our journey back was along the coast.
Amazing place to be.
Very peaceful and well worth it.
I highly recommend this visit.
