It’s a new beginning. It’s a new age. Pubs aren’t going to be what they used to be.
The Plough limped on somewhat pathetically, for years pre Covid. Now, under new management, the cunning plan, is to change.... absolutely nothing. Brilliant! Well, I tell a lie. They’ve dispensed with the fruit machine / easy money. So not quite exactly the same, worse.
I’ve scored it average, to be kind, but seriously guys, average won’t keep you in business anymore. I won’t be returning.

Excellent Sunday lunch with friends at this gem of a pub. Choice of roasts (including vegetarian) served with very fresh vegetables and crisp roast potatoes that were still fluffy on the inside!
All the bar and restaurant staff were very friendly, but didn't hover over you.
Make sure you leave room desert - sponges with custard or chilled cheesecakes with cream or ice-cream.
Very good value for money.

Went for dinner and got 1 meal free with my tastecard. Food came out at same time. Had a small menu but everything we had was delicious. Staff friendly and we ate in the well maintained garden. Had a nice walk after

'Homemade' pate tasted nothing more than like a spam. The 'rare' steak was old, chewy and tasteless and not at all rare. I wouldn't serve this to anyone! The fish was way overcooked too and so dry.
To top it all off, towards the end of the meal we realised that all the sauces apart from the ketchup were expired!
Service was lovely though, the only nice thing about the place.

We were told that they could provide the food for the wake and we would not have to co vern ourselves with a thing. Well, for what we paid we were appalled by not only the poltry amount provided but the incredibly limited variety. Can you image a buffet with out and crisps, nuts, dips, potatoe salad, coleslaw because that is what we were confronted with. A plate of chicken legs, one quiche, some mini pasties, some sausage rolls and two trays of sandwiches. This was supposedly for thirty people and we had paid £250. A damn rip off of an elderly man at his most vulnerable when grieving for his wife. I'm totally disgusted with the pub!

Really disappointing visit to the Plough, we waited nearly an hour for our food to come out, we asked twice to check where it was and then were told they'd need to take our order again. At which point we declined and asked for our money back.
When getting my money back I was then nearly short changed by half the money. As I bought a round of drinks with the food they deducted the wrong amount, luckily I queried it as it would of meant the round of drinks (1 pint, a half & 2 soft drinks) would of cost over £20. I then received all the money back for the food but with all the mix ups and waiting around I would of expected the round of drinks free too as a gesture of good will and to make up for the bad experience.
They did apologise and said they had been very busy so hopefully this was a one off but the staff didn't seem that bothered to really resolve the situation or turn it into a positive, so the customer service is definitely lacking.

I live within less than half a mile of this pub, and after people have said to me, about this pub, with garden for children to play in , I thought I would visit this evening. I ordered 3 lots of sausages and chips and beans for my children and myself an American Burger (no cheese) with chips. £5.95. My Burger arrived, very swiftly (always worrying when burgers are involved) and to say it was inedible is an understatement. It was wafer thin, in a manky old bun, that had clearly been frozen and was a frozen burger, with no relish, or onion, just slapped in a bun with 3 slices of tomato and some ice berg letttuce.....Burger King dish up something more appealing. I complained and asked if it was frozen, they said no, I then said it was inedible and I was just ignored, no offer of money back or replacement choice. NEVER again will I return to this pub, it was absoutely terrible. Take yourselves half a mile up the road to the frog and rhubarb or the Chequers where you get proper home made food. Menu choice was also dismal. (BTW, this is the first time in as long as I can remember that I have ever complained about food).

Stopped at the Plough Woodside, about 11/2 miles outside Luton.
Parking at front of pub. Friendly greeting and prompt service .
Asked to have food mid-afternoon - no problem was the reply.
There is a restaurant inside ,but as sunny day ate outside in large garden.
Nice small play area for children and Marque on lawn for private hire I assume.
Food served promptly and very tasty.
Would re visit.
