Freedom Day !
Jul 2021 • Solo
It’s a new beginning. It’s a new age. Pubs aren’t going to be what they used to be.
The Plough limped on somewhat pathetically, for years pre Covid. Now, under new management, the cunning plan, is to change.... absolutely nothing. Brilliant! Well, I tell a lie. They’ve dispensed with the fruit machine / easy money. So not quite exactly the same, worse.
I’ve scored it average, to be kind, but seriously guys, average won’t keep you in business anymore. I won’t be returning.

Poor quality food
Jul 2018
Disappointed by the quality of food in this pub for the price of it and the lack of staff care. Would not return in a hurry.

Mothers wake
Jul 2018 • Friends
We were told that they could provide the food for the wake and we would not have to co vern ourselves with a thing. Well, for what we paid we were appalled by not only the poltry amount provided but the incredibly limited variety. Can you image a buffet with out and crisps, nuts, dips, potatoe salad, coleslaw because that is what we were confronted with. A plate of chicken legs, one quiche, some mini pasties, some sausage rolls and two trays of sandwiches. This was supposedly for thirty people and we had paid £250. A damn rip off of an elderly man at his most vulnerable when grieving for his wife. I'm totally disgusted with the pub!

Mums 97th Birthday
Jul 2018 • Family
Needed somewhere local and ACCESSIBLE for elderly mum’s birthday. We have visited this pub many times over the years - always took the children to the pub garden/rabbits when younger. Time has moved on but service as excellent as ever; nothing is too much trouble. Went in on the England football match evening but still had that country pub feel. Fully accessible for wheelchair plus disabled toilet. Ate in the restaurant and then sat in garden. All ages, everything from crisps to steak! Pub grub it is true, don’t expect fine dining but if you want a good meal, good service and welcoming atmosphere - go to the Plough at Woodside - we will again. Many thanks for making us feel welcome.

Lunch and Dinner!
May 2018 • Friends
We stumbled across this country pub when coming to the nearby Land Rover experience, and were so impressed with lunch that we had to come back for dinner! Just a small friendly country pub, but it was exactly what we were looking for. The staff were friendly, and facilities were clean.
For lunch we had a bacon and stilton baguette, and a ham and cheese ploughmans. Everything was fresh and delicious. We were only sorry we were in such a rush that we looked like we hadn't enjoyed it, but we really had.
In the evening we came back for dinner - which although was delicious, wasn't quite as good as the lunchtime fare. My friend was extremely pleased with his homemade curry, and I thought my spaghetti bolognese was delicious, although could have done with the spaghetti being slightly hotter.
My friend was so excited by the menu and I don't think I've ever seen him so enthusiastic about food before. He definitely wanted to compliment the chef.
Such a shame the pub isn't closer to us, otherwise I think we could have easily become regulars!

Great, not run of the mill
Mar 2018 • Couples
The Plough was booked by friends we were visiting and I only looked at the reviews during the meal.
It’s hard to know what people expect especially if they are comparing with the pubs and restaurants that follow the current modern trend. Clearly if food is brought to the table cold I can understand criticism.
We had great food and Stephenie, our waitress, who is training to be a nurse was outstanding and whatever she is paid deserves more (owner please not we have never met her before).
The atmosphere was excellent with plenty of people enjoying themselves without being overbearing to others.
We all had a great meal the was served quickly, nicely hot AND on hot plates. The menu offers a varied selection and portions are all a good size. 2 from 3 of us gave the food very good. The fourth person only 5 from 10 because of the lack of onions and bacon with the liver and bacon.
Deserts...4 empty plates. We all feel very full. Great.

Food was forgotten
May 2016 • Family
Really disappointing visit to the Plough, we waited nearly an hour for our food to come out, we asked twice to check where it was and then were told they'd need to take our order again. At which point we declined and asked for our money back.

When getting my money back I was then nearly short changed by half the money. As I bought a round of drinks with the food they deducted the wrong amount, luckily I queried it as it would of meant the round of drinks (1 pint, a half & 2 soft drinks) would of cost over £20. I then received all the money back for the food but with all the mix ups and waiting around I would of expected the round of drinks free too as a gesture of good will and to make up for the bad experience.

They did apologise and said they had been very busy so hopefully this was a one off but the staff didn't seem that bothered to really resolve the situation or turn it into a positive, so the customer service is definitely lacking.
