I've been a frequent visitor to the Watermill for nearly 20 years and have to say the current production of Twelfth Night has to be one of the best plays I've experienced. Great adaptation and mesmerising from beginning to end - excellent

This was a brilliant introduction to the Bard for two teenage girls. It is was a treat to look at, with witty references to the 1920's, and the trademark highly inventive changes of scenery and energetic movement expanding the small stage. The jazzy musical numbers were tremendous: some reworking parts of the original script, some from the period and others... More

a chance find; and a gem! the theatre space has been lovingly created; the staff are friendly; the offerings are unexpectedly brilliant; and the programme is how a programme should be! a pity newbury folk don't flock there....

Such a great venue for theatre, it's architecturally wonderful, with huge old wooden beams (and the original water wheel is still visible on the way in to the theatre on ground level). We saw Faust x2 here last week and the sound was good, the acting superb and technical effects that couldn't be faulted. Great views from the seating on... More

Small theatre which is cheap....except at weekends....can't be bothered to pay for a drinks licence so you have to use the Fullers vehicle attached to the side which is a kind of faux-olde worlde usual chain nonsense- the staff didn't even know how to open a bottle of ale- bizarre....bring an umbrella- if its raining then you get a soaking... On our various trips to the Watermill Theatre we have enjoyed a really well presented and excellent meal, helped down with very good real ale. The actual theatre has always provided a variety of different entertainment and plays from leading performers, always well rehearsed and presented.

Although seated upstairs overlooking the stage, we still enjoyed every moment! I have eaten here on a previous visit and the choices were interesting and delicious, but sadly we didn't have time on this occasion, and had to make do with drinks in the bar. We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

We have seen many productions at this little theatre over the years. The stage has seats around three sides and shows are usually presented to take full advantage of this layout, and often use ladders for actors to climb up to the balcony. Some people may find it difficult to watch from the sides where you may have to keep... More

Murder for two. Wonderful entertainment. We are always delighted with the productions from this small theatre which has lots of atmosphere. You can also dine before the show if you book ahead and the food is good.
