You don't have to be a Downton Abbey fan to enjoy a tour of Highclere Castle (but it helps!) Entering this beautiful home is like taking a step back in time. Guides are available throughout the home to answer questions about the family, history, art, and culture. The gardens are lovely and the views from the back lawn of rolling... More

Went here for the whole Downton Abbey experience and was blown away! We went on the last day of the season and unfortunately so did a lot of other people which meant we had to queue for quite some time to get into the castle. So we decided to do the Egyptian experience while we waited, absolutely fascinating - well... More

My wife and attended the special Edwardian Garden Party and had a great time. Even though it decided to rain most of the day accomidations had been made to provide shelter. The tour of the house was very nice. You are able to see quite a bit of the house and each room has descriptions and docents to explain what... More

You get a time slot on your ticket but you can go in the house anytime. We found this out while there from other people not the staff. I asked if we had to do the Egyptian part as part of the house tour we got told yes. This is not true. You can go round the other side and... More

We enjoy visiting historic houses (have been NT members for a while) and watched the Downton Abbey series, so were looking forward to the visit. We booked advance tickets for Sept.14th in February! Two timings were available, 10.30 to 13.00 and 13.00 to 16.00. We booked the morning session. We arrived at 10.45, the car park was already busy. The... More

Highclere tour was better than I expected. A good portion of the house was accessible to the public. We are members of Historical Houses Association which meant that we were able to visit free of charge in the afternoon. It was magical looking at the rooms were we all enjoyed the Downton saga.

Fabulous castle and gardens! This is a castle that the Duke and Ditches actually live in so it is only open a limited number of days throughout the year, book in advance of when you will be there. I cannot begin to describe all the components of this estate. Also there is an Egyptian exhibition in the basement as one... More

I visited this wonderful castle last Tuesday with my sister in law. I am a fan of Downton Abbey so I was very excited to visit and I was not let down. We came with a bus trip so on that day only the buses from the organisation were allowed in making it less busy. Our time slot was 10:30... More
