Good water. Terrible cafe.
Jun 2021
The Lakes and Water Park are really good but the cafe is absolutely terrible. Really poor service with long delays followed by the wrong order being served. Food was of very poor quality. When mentioned to management they didn’t care less. I life locally and would of used this facility a lot but not now. Sooo disappointing.

Quick Visit for a Walk
Oct 2020 • Couples
Stayed in a lodge nearby, had a lovely walk around the lake with our dog, good paths for walking, peaceful, no activities going on when we were there, few people fishing. Enjoyed the stroll.

Paddle boarding for 2 children 10 & 13
Aug 2019 • Family
We arrived only to find we had made a mistake and not booked a lesson and our youngest grandchild couldn't participate unless with an adult. Something we couldn't help with. When we explain to the receptionist she was amazing and went out of her way to try to arrange a lesson. Callum was the instructor who came to our rescue. He was brilliant, great with our grandchildren. A lesson full of fun and taught them so much. Thank you for going the extra mile and making a 10 year old very happy. Great place to visit.

Definite potential but shambolic
Aug 2019
We visited today with 5 kids with the intention of them paddle-boarding. One of the children was too young (he's 8) to be unaccompanied which meant that an adult needed to be in the water with him. We heard several conflicting ages being thrown around as to how old the children needed to be in the water unaccompanied. First it was 11, then for someone else it was 10, and for someone else it was 12. We asked if an adult could canoe whilst the 8-year old paddle-boarded but apparently they wouldn't be in the same area of the lake, so this was not an option. The reality was, that the paddle-boarders and the canoeists were all in the same area.

When we finally decided on an activity for everyone to take part in, we then had to queue at the cafe to pay. Even though it wasn't particularly busy, it took so long that we ended up missing our slot in the water, and had to wait until the next one. No big deal, but it would have been so much easier to have paid at the counter where the lady was signing people up for the water sports, than have to wait for people's sandwiches and coffees to be made.

There is no signage anywhere, so we found ourselves inadvertently breaking rules such as being in a dog-free zone with our dog, eating our picnic in the wrong place, and not being down at the water early enough for our slot.

On the positive side, the guys who showed us our canoe and briefed us were great, and our time on the lake was lovely. It's just a shame that our first impression was so tainted by the unhelpful receptionist who left us feeling frustrated and unwelcome.

Brill family time
Jul 2019 • Family
On one of the hottest days of the year I decided to take the children to Wykeham Lakes Aquapark to cool off.
What a fantastic decision! We absolutely loved it. Great family fun session. Family friendly was emphasised in the video which we loved. Lake was lovely and refreshing on a very warm summers day.
I went with a six & ten year old. Both are competent swimmers and strong enough to pull themselves out of water- a great help!
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Good little cafe for a quick bite to eat afterwards- swimming always makes the children hungry!!

Water park
Sep 2017 • Family
We came earlier in the year to a party for a 12 year old. Our child liked it so much we have been back twice more including her party. Everyone has enjoyed the inflatables, trampolines, wall and slide when they have been. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The cafe very reasonable with good food. We will maybe try the paddle boarding next season and will definitely be back with friends on the water park.

A nice scenic series of freshwater ponds. I fished the coarse pond which is pleasant and shady and has nice well maintained pegs. There's also vehicle access for the disabled if you ask.

Expensive - more commercial than it used to be

Fishing can be pretty good and with a potential British record pike in the main lake the price to fish it reflects that. The track to the parking area by the fishing hut could do with some work and it is a fair old drive from the road. Lately it seems to have lost the personal touch it once had. So much harder to build up a rapport unfortunately. Lots of other coarse fisheries around but for trout fishing it is perhaps still worth a dabble.
