Nothing special, a lovely building with an average collection. We were the only two in the gallery and there were far more staff than visitors. I’m glad I’m not a taxpayer in Scarborough!

Permanent exhibition is probably not one for those who look for the grand masters but has much of local interest. Excellent temporary exhibition about maps relating to the pioneering geologist William Smith

Great place to visit for a couple of hours, with interesting displays and some fascinating art. There is local art for sale too, which is as interesting as the rest of the displays.

Small but worth a visit for the local paintings and a lovely Revilious. Entrance is £3, which also gets you into the Rotunda Museum. Beautiful setting, in a crescent of Georgian houses and a quiet garden.

I visited here after I had been to the Rotunda and I was very impressed with all the art work that they have there. Ranging from works of boats and ships around the Scarborough coastline to modern contemporary pieces. All staff were very helpful explaining which room contained which exhibition. Again worth the visit as it’s free with the yearly pass that you get from the Rotunda Museum…
