The Radway opened in 1928 and was planned to operate primarily as a theatre. As a live theatre it quickly failed and was soon altered to better accommodate cinema use.Whilst the building enjoyed a very thorough refurbishment in 1999 care was taken to do this as sympathetically as possible in order to retain its early 30’s charm.Digital Projection, 3D and Sound was recently been added.

This is a lovely place to go and see a film or watch a cinema live event. Just on the edge of town. It has a small lounge upstairs for a drink before the show and a little kiosk for popcorn etc downstairs. Good old fashioned service. Well worth a visit. Highly recommend.

Saturday night in Sidmouth and we were getting our Batman v Superman on. Went in and ordered the tickets and a lovely blonde haired lady informed us we were well early, I asked if the pub across the road allowed children, but she said that she'd make us some hot drinks whilst we waited. She even got some reading material... More

Lovely cinema, we had tickets for the balcony seats which are definitely worth it with your own little table. Very helpful, friendly staff, but be warned, there are no adverts before the film so turn up on time!

What a lovely suprise we had when we went to see a fim here at The Radway, while staying in the locality. The cinema is just like a cinema should be, small, intimate, well decorated with comfortable seats. This is a very well run establishment. We visited again the same week to see a live screening of The Mikado from... More

Normally a great little cinema however I concur with another reviewer. The front row is way too tight and makes viewing unpleasant. The seats were also quite ricketty/creaky middle seats on the left front row of the balcony. However on all the other occasions a nice place. Good sound quality and very good screen size.

The front row of the balcony is definitely to be avoided. The space between the seat and the wall at the front of the balcony was barely big enough for my feet. There is more room in cattle class on an economy airliner. Added to the lack of space my seat back appeared to be broken and so when sitting... More

Good to find an old single screen cinema still with stalls and balcony. Big screen, comfy seating and friendly staff. I sat in the balcony which had decent legroom and there were tables next to some of the seats for you to put your drinks / food on. A great place to see a film.

Forget your 4D 360 IMAX and the like, this, for me is what cinema is all about. Compact, friendly, and well, that rare thing, comfy seating! Both tiers have large chairs, with plenty of leg room, and in the balcony, most of the seating is set in blocks of two, with a table now taking up the space where a... More

Such a good experience to see an old cinema and be able to see modern films in it. Staff go out of their way to welcome you and make you feel comfortable. Tea was brought to us in our seats and had purchased popcorn and chocolate. Screen was a good size however it was quite cold but I feel this... More

A lovely little cinema right in the heart of Sidmouth showing a great variety of films for adults and children. It also has cinema live events like Andre Rieu live from Maastricht, which I attend every year; or opera live eg Madame Butterfly last year which was amazing and coming up soon Aida both from Sydney Harbour. The seating is... More
