Ample parking even on a busy day. Lovely, pretty park with walks around the lake and a great play ground for all ages. Lovely cafe with lots of seating overlooking the lake, like being on holiday ! Toilets at cafe (customers only) were well maintained.
Really recommend.

I've been going to Black Park since I was a child, I'm now in my 50's with teens of my own. This beautiful place is not what it once was. I could write a long review of my experience today but suffice to say it was not a pleasant or relaxing experience as it once was. The cafe is overpriced, the staff are rude (Alex) and incompetent and the toilets filthy. The carpark is very expensive and the park itself is full of litter, including in the lake itself. It has become a cynical money making exercise when it is a public space. It's so sad, I've been rather put off going again.

I've been walking the trails of Colne Valley for years now that Black Park is part of. And no this forest/park is not known for black magic or any dark rituals so don't be put off by the name. Once you're deep in the woods, you'll know why it's called what its called. Some of the tall Pine trees are so dark grey that they almost look black hence the name.

You'll see wooden structures and other woodcarvings throughout the whole area as the Pine wood is the main product here. They've also given their name to the James Bond Pinewood Studios next door that are filming here regularly which makes it more of a commercial place. Also the weekends in good weather are noisy when every kid in the world Goes Ape and the their screams scare all the birds and wildlife away. But other than that, it's a lovely and peaceful area to get away from it all.

The experience starts with finding a place to park. The car park is quite big but on a busy weekend it fills up. The centre of the park is around the lake, and a walk around the lake is well worth it. There is an adventure playground with activities suitable for children from about 3 years old. The café kiosk today was busy and not well organised but the ice-cream van was popular and not overpriced. Generally a good place for a family outing, but small children must be kept away from the lake.

We have been there last week with kids. They were so happy and eager to go again. Clean toilets facilities, overall wonderful place for a day out.

We went as lots rave about this park. Gave it a go, but parking was hard going with long queues. Could pay by card which was easy.
The lake is quite small, but still lovely.
The playground was great and kids loved it.
There was toilets by go ape and the play area, clean, but got messy towards end of the day. There was lots of ice cream and other treats so be prepared.
Lots of picnic spots.
Nice place but think we prefer wendover woods for walks, Westminster Lodge or Ricky aquadrome for lakes..

Great landscape gardens, open spaces, cafe and much less crowded than Black Park across the road. Only downside is the cat parking charges, but I guess they need the cash to maintain this stunning place.

have walked the park for many years,[in fact about 5 days a week]but over the last few years it has become a money pot for the bucks cc what with go ape slowly taking over larger areas and pinewood filming some times what seems as if they own the park . Iappriciate both add income to the park but one sees little in return. parking at weekends is a joke and now parking in adj lanes is banned[ parking restrictions] although most signs have now disappeared . Best time to visit weekday never weekends and look at the parks web site to see if there is any filming.

I come near and now again on the bicycle and the park is great for cycling. I can't fault the park for it's views however I would like to comment on one area that could be improved.
Around the lake there is a section of path marked no cycling. Please could the signage be improved so that it is clear to walkers that you are allowed to push bicyles through here - I am assuming that is the case but please correct me if not. Though the signs do say 'no cycling' and not 'no bikes' so I think this is right?
Unfortunately everytime I visit at least one person shouts at me and points out that there are signs clearly showing no cycling and I then have to explain that you are allowed to walk bikes through the area.
Please improve the signs and make this clear as it's pretty upsetting having to go through this each time I visit and spoils what is otherwise a great day out.
Thank you.

This is a lovely park. It is really picturesque with the autumn colours. The lake is lovely and peaceful. The grounds is extensive. On the day we visited, the ground was quite wet so welly boots is recommended. Our dog had a great time but absolutely filthy at the end, so a big towel is a must. For the adventurous, there is a go ape here too. Parking was ok. We went on a rainy day so there was no queues at the parking machine and there were plenty of spaces. Getting there was simply enough following the satnav. We had a great time and will definitely be back.
