My wife and I love walking through the grounds and deer park whether in spring, summer, autumn or winter. There is always lots of wildlife, particularly the deer herd, to watch and lots of woodlands birds too. The cafe is superb and is very welcoming of children. We met up with our son, his wife and our baby granddaughter who... More

We visited on a Monday morning in February - it wasn't too busy and strolling around the grounds was very enjoyable. There were two highlights for us, the first was the walk through the deer park, particularly as the deer were VERY close to the footpath so we were able to observe them close up. Secondly, the formal gardens were... More

Although enjoyable enough on a fine day, I was a little underwhelmed by a visit to Dunham Massey. The grounds were quite a bit busier than anticipated and this seemed to scare the deer away to the distant corners of the park. I had been looking forward to seeing them but never caught a glimpse. It would be unfair to... More

It's ok another national trust place perhaps with little going for it. There is the hall and some outbuildings with a large open spaces where you can use broken branches to keep kids amused building camps The teat is fairly sterile NT stuff with little or no local I put.

A visit to the house at least once is a must. The volunteer staff are very knowledgable and can give a good insight into the history of the house and its families. For us the stars are the extensive grounds and gardens. We are members of the National Trust, live within a few miles of Dunham and visit the ever changing... More

We visited this by house just 2 days after it opened from its winter shutdown and whilst the house was not fully open we enjoyed a very interesting behind the scenes tour of some of the artwork and history of the families who have owned the property, I will be sure to try and return later in the year to... Visited the gardens last summer 2016 with a friend. The drive from Altrincham was without. Problems and nearer the gardens is well sign posted . The gardens are delightful the herbaceousborders in full bloom, and amazing , lots of colour and different flowers. Some areas were a little neglected , but they are large area to look after. Had lunch... More

On my 70th birthday celebrations I had to visit zDunham Massey Gardens. My word, I was not disappointed as I walked around the dry paths with my wife of 43years! It was cold but it didn't matter. The space and grandeur of the whole background to the gardens filled two hours of a perfect birthday enjoyment. Unbeatable!

Amazed how busy it was...the house is starting to come alive again with a limited tour due to planned restoration work continuing until the end of March. Friendly staff in all areas and gorgeous homemade cakes and refreshments. We are so lucky to have such amazing places to visit, support the National Trust.
