A quiet forestry commission area around 4 miles from Ballater with a lot of car park spaces. A bit of a bumpy access road so take it easy. There's a good selection of forest walks and bike trails and it seems to be popular with the early morning dog walkers. There are no facilities but there is a little cafe (Courie Courie Bakery) a couple of hundred yards down the road.

I come every year and still discover new parts of the Cambus o’ May! Am NOT a Walker as such, just with the dog when at home and this place I find just right in terms of interest and ease. It’s also good in the wet because of the tree cover. Have discovered a lovely lake and bridge here too. It’s a fabulous place

If you are more of a casual walker or area curious driver who wants to know what lies behind the road - these walks are for you. From half an hour to longer they are a pleasant get away from it all without getting lost. Not too demanding there is even a wheel chair accessible route that gives access. Great picnic spot with views over the Strath, Ballater and Craigendarroch.

Free parking with several colour-coded routes to follow. Mixed vegetation, it is not all conifers. Signs ask you to keep dogs to the paths or have them on lead to avoid nature disturbance. Very peaceful even though just off the main road.

The children (11 and 9) couldn't be bothered walking but we forced them, because we're evil! They ended up loving the walk and the suspension bridge. We were here for 3 hours, then went to the cafe, which was great. We'll be back next year!

Fab Forrest walks, so peaceful and a great place to listen to the different birds. Don't miss the Cambus O May cheese shop just across the raid from the forest car park!

Plenty of parking, and clean toilets at the start of the walking routes. Burn O'Vat is a must. Lovely walking for all ages, and dogs too. A few short steepish ascents, and you may meet the odd mountain biker. Beautiful views of Loch Kinord from the viewpoint.

Love this place. It takes about mintes to walk round it with my dogs. No trouble with cars. Always a pleasure.

Very pleasant easy walking, well signed and good for a short family walk to fill a morning or afternoon. Nice little cafe at the bottom of the hill.

Good mountain bike routes through the forest. The routes would seem to have enough challenges for all but the most extreme bikers. We hired our bikes from Cycle Highland in Ballater who were very helpful.
